Suzie's Cafe: It's okay...
Good: Service, atmosphere, Cinnamon Roll, bread Bad: Coffee, value/price
I've been striking out lately on some local faves (Wing's etc had a strike 2 for us also). My wife and I went to Suzie's Cafe for breakfast Saturday morning after hearing the rave reviews. We ordered the Cinnamon Roll as a breakfast appetizer (breakfast appetizer is an interesting and awesome concept!). It is huge and very good. I mean HUGE. I ordered the meat omelette. My wife ordered the Country Skillet with the home-made bread. I'm going to say that if you like cinnamon rolls and waffles and bread/dough-like products, then this place excels. But this is where the value starts to fall off. Those sort of items are CHEAP to make. Now, granted the cinnamon roll is beyond huge....we had so much left over that we took 3/4 of it home. But, they do not have a great re-heat reputation so, really, it is wasted. Breads, doughs, rolls generally are not a take home item.
The country skillet was good but there was no or little meat in it. My omelette was good but nothing phenomenal. The fruit they served with was very good. The coffee was horrific....a step below office coffee if that is possible. But, I am a bit of a coffee-snob so I am sure if will be fine for most everyone. But there are great local roasters and there should be a well-displayed better coffee alternative to take this place up a notch. The good was that the service was very quick and attentive. Someone was always coming around for refills but not intrusive.
It was $36 for the two of us ($30 + tip), we did not have alcohol (I'm not even sure they serve breakfast/brunch alcohols). Seems about $10 more than it should be for the value....again only because breads, doughs, batters, & rolls are cheap filling options and the other stuff was "meh". Would we go back? Yeah, I suppose. But it is not a breakfast destination for me. My wife liked it more than I but she (like most) LOVES the dough/pancake/waffle/rolls bread/carb foodstuffs). I would rather pay a little more and do a brunch or pay a little less and it equal the value...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWow, sort by lowest ratings, I was surprised to read so many low ratings here. Been here before.. honestly, basic food yet overpriced. Owner Suzie, your consumers experience should be important to you but you dismissed us. Stopped in for a bite today but half way through I started to feel quizy and ran to the rest room and threw up my meal! I don't think it was food poisoning but definately something spoiled. I had cream in my coffee, gravy on my biscuits, etc.... How embarrassing. Was going to just leave but then felt compelled to tell the waitress what just happened so no one else would get sick. I whispered to server not to alarm other guests and with No empathy she rolled her eyes and went to get the manager. I thought what an Odd response like she's delt with this before. Why so irritated with us telling her what happened? The owner Suzie then came over, but never said something like 'oh I'm so sorry you were sick can I get you a glass of water' nothing like that care, but instead actually made excuses like "it was not ours, ours is fresh" Wow!? Really? I wasn't sick before I came here. It only takes one cook not to wash your hands after the restroom to spread Ecoli. She showed no care, no concern or anything, no emathy, just dismissed us. My face flushed red, tears in my eyes of embarrassment and illness... I just got up to leave. Payed for all the food and a tip. We have spent hundreds weekly and WILL NEVER EAT HERE AGAIN! Headed to the ER š Honestly waitress and management should have offered to take care of the bill or Acted like they even cared. Seemed callus to such a situation like they've heard it before? Which makes a serious concern. Not the people we thought you were.
Well they are these kind of people. I remember we came in a few weeks before this for our daughter's School fundraiser and she said "we only sponsor Cancer causes" But as we left we seen down the road a Big Sponsor sign for Harley Friday Night Crusn. That's not Cancer research,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy husband and I were really excited to have a cinnamon roll cake for our wedding, so we decided to order it from here. But when it got delivered to our venue there was no AC at the moment. Therefore, the cake was a disaster. When My husband and I walked to see the cake I cried a little bit because it was something I wanted to look nice on our special day. My husband also thought the cake looked bad.
The communication I had was so poor. The person in charge had my number and she could of texted me that the venue was hot and could cause the cake to have an issue. Which then I could of let my wedding coordinator know the problem. But nothing, zip, zero response until I had to reach out the following day about the problem.
Also, days leading up to my wedding the communication was poor. I understand people are busy, but it doesnāt take much to email/text someone back. If I could go back I would go with another bakery.
And Iām still waiting for the refund just for the cake. itās been well over a month since I last spoke to the person in charge about this issue.
Also, turns out there were more cupcakes in the fridge and my wedding coordinator had no idea. Becauseā¦once again poor communication. So we paid for cupcakes that werenāt even used. Overall, the only reason Iām giving two stars is because the cupcakes we had were great.
Other than that, this was a bit disappointing. And makes me a bit upset that this part of my wedding wasnāt what it...
