The below review was actually one I wrote a while back (earlier this year perhaps) and must have forgot to post... so I'm including it below. I had a 2nd computer that may have also had some water damage and while I thought for sure I was going to lose this macbook pro.... just as my prior laptop, they were able to find the problem and fix it. This one related to finding 2 separate parts on the laptop shorting out... They spent so much time trying to figure it out, and the patience and determination paid off! This is a GREAT GREAT business and if anyone can help it's Unique Geek! Great Job Basel and team!
an earlier post:
I spilled a bottle of water on my MacBook Pro and it completely died on me. I thought it was heading for the garbage. I decided though, considering how expensive these computers are, to see if a store existed that could fix it. I discovered how hard it is to find places who will work with Apple products and was thrilled to discover Unique Geek in Valpo.
Long story short, I left it with them and as they worked on it, cleaning it, doing whatever diagnostics they had to do to identify the issues, they often called to give me updates and always were extremely kind, knowledgeable and gave me 'hope' that they had solutions on the way.
Fortunately, they DID have the ability to fix it... Some parts needed to be replaced, but the costs were NOTHING compared to what it would have cost to buy a brand new computer... I am SO HAPPY they fixed it!
It's so great to know that water damage does not mean the end to your computer! Unique Geek is an amazing group of people who clearly know what they are doing and you can tell they feel very satisfied and happy when they know they were able to fix our phones or computers and save us money!
I will go to them in the future now for even a simple cleaning or maintenance of my products! ...
Read moreI went here because I thought they were professional and I even went here after knowing they were $40 per phone more to fix then other place. But after getting one of my 2 note 8 phones back with a cracked back case with no explanation of why and then them blamming me for bringing it in that way, I was not happy! They said I had no proof of it being in perfect condition when I brought it in and their protocol is to make notes of such when it comes in. So the kid taking care of my check out looked that up and he said there were no notes on bad case. I said exactly cause it was in perfect condition besides bad screen. SO kid calls the owner, who was the one who fixed screens, and he denied braking it and that it came in that way. I know I brought the phones in with just the screens bad because I was wanting to sell them online after fixed so I would have gotten that fixed as well so I could actually sell them. So manager tried to see if he had one on shelf.....once he realized he didn't he said I would then have to pay for repair and he could do nothing about it. SO when I was leaving I said well only thing I have is to tell my story about this. The manager quickly then said ok we will fix it so you don't have to do that and that he would call me when the parts come in. So now here it is a week later and no call on parts and I'm pretty sure they aren't going to fix this phone now. I am sitting here frustrated that this happened and now I cant sell the one note 8 or have any push back to them at all as this all happened after I paid for repairs.....they wouldn't hand phones to me til after I paid them! I'm not sure if they did that on purpose but looking back it sure makes sense. I would think twice about using these guys as they are very shady indeed and not willing to work with me at all even after they...
Read moreI had an unexpected wonderful experience this afternoon. I took in my Google Pixel 4 phone which I thought needed a new battery, and my Samsung Chromebook which had a few stuck keys from me eating over it, and I wanted to get the keyboard cleaned underneath. Technician James and the owner, Basel, took care of me for about 20 min, no charge. James vacuumed the keyboard and explained that on this Chromebook, the whole thing had to be taken apart to access the keyboard, that would cost $200 which was almost as much as replacing it. He suggested I just live with it. Basel explained that with a Pixel 4, when accessing the battery ($80) , there is a high risk of cracking the (uncracked) screen ($120), and they did not recommend it. James showed me where to check which apps were sucking up the power, and again they recommended I just live with it until the battery was really gone and/or I was ready to buy a new phone. Basel asked my priorities in a phone, and made a few recommendations. When I am ready to buy I will DEFINITELY go back and see what they have. This was a personal service experience that is extraordinary to find today....
