There is a more middle aged woman that works there that was awesome. Made a great sandwich. Was kind... The younger girl with brown hair, not.so.much. seemed bothered from the get go as I called, menus are only posted as pics on Google so I asked her what they do have. It was different. She seemed annoyed with my 2 or three questions.
I ordered and said I'd be on my way to pick up.
Get there, everything seemed fine. Spent 34 bucks, with tip, for a turkey bacon avavodo sandwich, a crepe, and a few candies... she seemed a little nicer in person so I made sure I was nice as everyone feels rushed sometimes... maybw it was just that...
when I got home to eat the sandwich I had been um, craving!! There was no bacon.
So, I call to make sure It still came with bacon. She simply said "yes" I said okay, but, there is no bacon on here.... she replies with "oh yeah we were out. She did say "my bad" but with a serious attitude.
Ya. I was in there! aside from charging the same price, JUST TELL A PERSON if the menu item is not going to made as described. When I went in she could have told me that so when I went home I wasn't expecting the sandwich that I was craving. Her attitude about it is much worse than being out of bacon which would have been totally fine in the first place.
There are plenty of other places to get a good sandwich, or good coffee, even with their ambiance, which IS very inviting and cozy; a sort of boho plant loving vibe, but can still be found other places (hello gold cup!)
I might try again if the other lady is working but will straight turn around and walk out if this girl is working.
The first time, their sandwich was amazing, their salad dressing tastes like yumy homemade dressing...initially, I was so excited to find this little place.
But, this is all nothing if you leave feeling like the service is snobby and lacks simple communication.
I.e "hey, we are out of bacon for the sandwich, would you still like it?
Simple; and no need...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI prefer to support local businesses rather than large chains but unfortunately I am disappointed in the coffee and breakfast sandwich I ordered from this coffee shop. When I arrived there were only two patrons that were sitting having coffee. I approached the counter and a very young girl asked what I would like. She seemed a little confused especially when I ordered the breakfast sandwich. She then went to find another employee who also appeared very young and also not really sure what the breakfast sandwich was. After paying and leaving a tip I waited and figured it would not take too long considering I was the only person who had ordered at that time. I eventually decided to sit down and wait. The two girls disappeared for a bit then one finally came out with the breakfast sandwich but no coffee so I then had to ask about the coffee and eventually it was made. I am not sure if they are the regular employees but appeared too young to be manning the ship. Once I arrived home (which is only two blocks away) and opened the container I picked up sandwich and it was cold. The bacon was undercooked and the cheese was not melted and croissant was soggy. I then tasted the coffee which tastes burned and was not what I ordered. I understand things happen such as waiting a little longer than normal but unfortunately this was a number of things that were a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis little coffee shop is cozy with six small tables up against the right wall as you walk in and one long bench table to the left. It is attatched to Gastranome European Grocery and Deli, which is small but easy to spot from the parking lot, as it has a large sign. Hosta coffee shop has a paper sign on the door only at this point. The barista was friendly, if understaffed, as they serve food as well as coffee, so previous food orders are filled before coffee orders. There are no gluten free food options unless it's a choice, not allergy based. If you can have food, they serve a limited selection of breakfast sandwiches and crepes.
The lack of stars is for two reasons. The first reason is the latte. It had plenty of foam and the milk was not too hot but it tasted exactly like drip coffee, which has sat for two hours in the pot, with some warm milk added. The outcome is a weak, bitter, dirty tasting latte. The second reason is the highly religious radio station. Bible versus are discussed and only very Christian music is played. That's all well and good if you only want one segment of the population for a customer base. It is very allienating for the...
