We were looking for a new experience and stumbled upon Joy Sushi while cruising down 4th Plain. We had a wonderful experience. A family operation, their mantra is upping the customer experience and bringing joy to each visitor who comes through the door. Jessica and her family have done an excellent job on that front, and the food complements their dedication perfectly. Fresh, tasty, and a great menu variety that isn't too bloated with an overpowering list of items. Sushi dishes were some of the best in Vancouver. They even have a dessert sushi roll called sweet angel. A must try! Lanzhou soup was some of the best we ever had. Broth was clear and tasty and meat was cooked perfectly. Lots of love and dedication going into their dishes and cannot recommend them enough...and they have great xia long bao! Will be going in again this week! Thank you, Joy Sushi! You are very much appreciated here in Vancouver. Update, April 2022. New owners but same great food and service with a worked over menu. Some additional goodies and sushi boats! The Szechuan chicken appetizer is to die for. Make sure you get rice with it.

The owners of this restaurant are legitimately some of the kindest and most amazing people I have ever met in my life! No joke!!!! I had ordered food via uber eats for pickup from a place called Ginger 88 Grill and upon arriving at the restaurant for my pickup order, I came to dind that it had closed and a new restaurant was in its place (Joy Sushi). The owner very nicely explained to me that uber still had the closed restaurant up on their site even though it was no longer in operation and apologized for the issue profusely. Instead of turning me away, they volunteered to make me what I had ordered free of charge, even though it was in no way their fault. They truly went above and beyond for me even though they had nothing to do with the issue. The kindess they showed has earned a customer out of me for life! I encourage everyone to come show some love and give them business. And for the record, the food is AMAZING!!!!!!

Wow. If you love sushi YOU MUST GO HERE. Everything we ordered was excellent, we had the Bruce Lee roll, Rainbow roll, Spider roll, Volcano roll and the Pearl roll. Not only was the food some of the best we have had compared to most of the sushi restaurants around the Vancouver area, the presentation was gorgeous and artistic, bravo to the chefs! Joy sushi does put enormous amounts of sushi rice in your rolls to bulk up the size, they use the perfect amount of rice. Excellent service and superb sushi. I didn't see Poke Bowls on the menu which mad me sad, but the food and fast service made up for it. If you love sushi and haven't tried Joy Sushi yet, you are missing out!!!

A friend and I had spent a long day packing my house to move. We were both ravenous and not in great shape to dine in a restaurant, but we we're craving sushi and found excellent online reviews for Joy Sushi. It was nearby, so off we went.

The restaurant itself is nondescript. Located in an old strip mall on Fourth Plain (the same strip mall where Smokey's Pizza used to be); if you blink you'll miss it. The interior of the restaurant is fairly utilitarian, comfortable but small and a bit spartan. (But who cares, the sushi is amazing! Read on ... )

The menu is very extensive (maybe too much!) and it took a while to make our selection. Ultimately, we went with some of their most popular items. California roll, cucumber roll, salmon skin roll, spicy tuna roll, tuna nigiri, and miso soup.

I thought the prices were reasonable ($6 to $8 per roll). The young lady who took our order was outstanding. Serving size was great (each roll was cut into six full-size pieces). And it was possibly the best sushi 🤤🍣 I've eaten in Vancouver in the 18 years I've lived in the area. The only tiny down note was the miso soup, which was tasty, but needed a bit of seasoning, and more scallions.

After a delicious dinner plus a very late late night snack to finish the few pieces that were left, I'm thrilled to have discovered Joy Sushi.

After dinner, I went online and checked out the fabulous images of the food as it is served at the table. I now regret not dining in the restaurant, because the presentation is just incredible. I plan to rectify that situation in the very near future.

Kudos to Joy Sushi! And thank you for a...

As a Japanese-American seeking comfort food my Japanese Grandmother made for I was beyond let down! Miso soup does not have chicken broth! That is an Americanized recipe that is a dishonorable way to portray a Japanese recipe. It is a it disgrace to your ancestors if you are Japanese to call that miso. I feel highly disrespected as a Japanese-American that this restaurant portrays itself as an authentic Japanese restaurant and they can't make something as basic as miso soup! THE MISO SOUP HERE IS NOT MISO SOUP! IT TASTES GROSS!

Now we need to speak about the staff and their racist ways towards Caucasian Americans. There's nobody in that restaurant if they're Japanese that is not fluent in English because well all Japanese people are taught English since childhood since before the 1940s. The lady there taking my partner's order played stupid and like she didn't understand English really offended my girlfriend because she knows that's a game they play and I have a game I know they play. It is in fact racism. With this level of disrespect dishonesty and scamming if you were truly Japanese you know what forest to go to.

So either these are some really dishonorable disrespectful Japanese people or even worse other form of Asian people portraying themselves as Japanese. The latter is actually more common than...
