My family and I received a great recommendation to try this establishment for lunch on the weekend and so we did. Upon entering the establishment, we were not greeted right away but that was okay because someone eventually sat us. I asked for a high chair and never received it. There were 3 other families who walked in after us and some who were already seated. As my husband and I , along with our two small children, waited to be served or even greeted, we watched the staff greet and take care of every other family in the restaurant but us. We are an African American family and have never been treated so rudely at an establishment. After about 15 minutes we left, we waited so long because we wanted so badly for our thoughts about our we being ignored because of our race to not be true. Eventually, we left. Being that my husband is a business and restaurant owner, after he got the kids and I in the car, he went back in to politely chat with the manager about our experience. When the manager saw my husband walking back in, before he realized it was the guy who just left, he was walking to the front to greet the customer. Once he realized it was my husband, he turned around and walked to the back bar and turned his back. This was a disgusting way to be treated at an establishment that we were excited to try. I don’t normally leave reviews, but this one...
Read moreFirst time at the Curry & Grill Indian Restaurant. They serve lunch in a buffet style, which is ALSO a first for me for any Indian restaurant. For dinner they serve by the dish, and the menu changes a little every day, so you never know what the options are going to be! The meats were excellent, the breads perfectly baked, and the sauces on point. I do prefer a bit more heat to my sauces when I eat Indian, but since it's buffet style, I understood why they went with minimal heat. Still, the flavors were good, and that's the most important part. There were two gentlemen who alternated waiting on me, and both were polite, attentive, and friendly. The atmosphere is very nice! Softly lit, but not dark. Quiet instrumental music playing in the background, and if you look at the screen on the wall behind the bar, they will show you what artist and song is playing, which I thought was great. I personally love that, since I'm a music lover and often want to know the artist and song name of music I hear over speakers. All in all, a most excellent experience. I will...
Read moreStopped in on a whim for dinner and, wow, we were shocked! The dishes were excellent, having more complex but subtle improvements over almost any Indian restaurant food I've tried in the Midwest. Every taste gave us an overwhelming sense of freshness and care. Staff attentive and friendly at 110% level. They've done their best with interior in a large, voluminous space (while keeping space open for buffet travelers, no doubt). Look forward very much to trying their buffet. This establishment is destined to become a hit for Dayton area! If you like heat, you'll want to be sure to ask for that, since their tempo for Midwest tastes is not too spicy. But I'm sure they could get you there...
