We went to Isabella’s today at 10am we arrived. We were seated immediately, shocking because they were packed. We sat outside it was shady with a cool breeze very nice. That was the end of the good experience.
The waitress came over and took our drink order. They had fresh juice and I asked her if the antioxidant drink was good. She said yes it has oranges, strawberries and blueberries it’s very good. I said great give me that antioxidant . I said it twice and confirmed once by her.
We then ordered the food. I ordered the cowboy which is steak, potatoes and egg. I asked for hollandaise sauce poured all over.
My wife ordered an egg white wrap with a side of avocado sliced.
First the juice came out 20 minutes after ordering, it was warm and it smelled and tasted like grass. I told the waitress and she said that’s what I asked for the detox. I said detox, no I ordered the antioxidant with orange blueberry and strawberries. She said I heard detox. She took it away and returned with the correct juice which was cold. No apology.
Then the food came out. My cowboy came out with no hollandaise sauce, and well done steak, and my wife no avocado. Then the waitress came out with some green liquid for my wife and a little side of sauce for me, which was cold not hot.
Now we were already halfway done when the sauces came out. My wife told the waitress I asked for a side of avocado not this and the waitress again said I thought you said…. I just didn’t eat mine wasn’t worth it at this point. The owner walked out and my wife said I ordered avocado but at this point I will be done when it does get here so can you just remove it. She said yes and apologized.
10 minutes later here comes the avocado. They didn’t take it off the bill. They charged me extra for hollandaise sauce and didn’t give it. No my wife didn’t eat the avocado as she was done eating.
They do not listen or care. They have people saying they are the best in Ventnor and Margate. I say those people don’t know what good food is.
Don’t waste your time here. Go to Velo Cafe, they...
Read moreWhen we arrived through the front door, it seemed to be very inviting as there were several vases of flowers, small and large throughout the restaurant. We chose to dine inside although there was an option to dine outside which probably doubled the overall dining capacity. I would like to mention that only the front of the restaurant was covered by a retractable awning for outside dining and although there was seating alongside the restaurant, it was not all that inviting IMO. The service was pleasant although they seemed standoffish, not in a rude way, but just odd (something we have never experienced, so it can’t be described). Ordered some apple juice and the usual coffee which was below average, not much body to it. One dish, the Cafe Benedict was very good, ordered without the spinach which they gladly accommodated. It had perfectly cooked eggs that oozed the delectable yolk over the dish, totally delicious. The Mexican omelette was delicious, however, it just missed the mark compared to other omelettes in comparison. I could not discern any sausage (the menu didn’t mention what type of sausage and I guess I now know why) in the omelette, although the other ingredients were evidently present. Enjoyed the guacamole (very tasty), salsa (very mild) and sour cream that accompanied the omelette, all were used with the dish. Due to my personal taste, I had to add some Cholula sauce that was on the table with my omelette (my favorite hot sauce BRW) as the salsa provided had a very mild heat to it. Both dishes came with home fries that were excellently seasoned which, unfortunately, we could not finish. The rye toast was buttered and delicious. Have to mention that parking on the street outside the restaurant can only be paid by the “Park Mobile” app, if you so desire 😂. There is a Dunkin next door, but it appears they monitor their lot for non customers which I can’t disagree with. Overall it was a good breakfast, however, the experience was not as we expected. I wouldn’t discourage anyone to try it, just not our cup of tea as it...
Read moreOne of the greatest hidden treasures in Ventnor City is ISABELLA'S CAFE; it's directly behind the Dunkin Donuts at the corner of Portland & Ventnor Avenue. -It's so unobtrusive, that many people miss the small wall sign on the Ventnor Avenue side advertising the Cafe. Isabella's Cafe fronts onto the cross-street, (Portland Avenue) and has a pleasant, outdoor seating area, with an awning for sun protection. Once you enter, there is a cozy area in the front for small groups or couples, as well as a larger additional space for extra seating. The attractive, friendly staff were very well-versed in different menu options, and had helpful suggestions. I chose the ' Steak & Eggs ', ( with BACON!!), and enjoyed several cups of bottomless coffee, while sitting with a nice window view. The owner is a very pleasant woman, who has been at this same location since 2008. This business, as all restaurants do, deserves the support of the community, especially after this pandemic. Try to tip well, a few dollars can mean so much to someone struggling. There were several other patrons inside having a lively conversation. My Steak & Eggs arrived, cooked perfectly, a very nice way to start the day, before going to the Ventnor Boardwalk. The Cafe has both a Daytime and Evening menu, pictures of both are included in my review. They also sell comfy sweatshirts for your friends. I took pictures of the Cafe from all three sides, to make it easier to spot. If you are coming from the Boardwalk, it is only a short two blocks for a excellent and reasonably-priced meal. It is also a popular spot in the evenings for couples. As a disabled person in a wheelchair, I have to say they went out of the way to accommodate me; I also made it a point to check out the wheelchair-accessable bathroom. ( Clean and nicely decorated) Give them a fair try, I think you'll...
