The Dorset — Restaurant in Ventnor City

I used to go to this place years ago when the previous owners owned it and it was called something else. Even as a native, I forget. It was a good place to go for good food and service at a great price. I was in Ventnor with a friend, who is not from this area. I thought it would be a good place to eat.. At first, I noticed the name change. New owners and new indoor/outdoor seating . Making parking very scarce. We were seated right away. It took an unusually long time for our server to first acknowledge us. Our server finally came over and we immediately ordered. My scrambled eggs didn’t look like they were made from real eggs. My Canadian bacon and potatoes were burnt and dried out. All food was lukewarm. I was really hungry so I ate over half of it. Plus, with the new owners and the place redone, it got really pricey. It is a tourist trap now. I wanted to speak to the manager, but my friend didn’t want me to complain. He didn’t mention anything bad about his meal. Edit 6/22/25: I will always give places the benefit of the doubt before posting a negative review. We have now had 2 really weird/downright rude interactions with the same waitress. On the first occasion an umbrella literally flew off the table into our table and the waitress sitting right there did not notice or care. And then she told us we had to pay cash because she accidentally closed out our check with no way to fix it. The owner was kind enough to welcome us back with comped meals which we were appreciative of. We had the same waitress. We had been sitting for about 2 minutes, no water coffee etc. she didn't even introduce herself but instead shouted from where she was standing "ready??" As if we should know she was speaking to us. I couldn't tell you her name she's never introduced herself. When I said no we haven't even gotten water yet we aren't ready to order food she told us she takes food and drinks orders all at once. On our way to Margate, we stopped at the Dorset for breakfast. I asked the waitress if they had maple syrup to go with the pancakes. She replied "no we do not, do you want to leave?" Since we were tired, we decided to order eggs, potatoes and bacon. However my wife ordered the pancakes. I ordered the eggs over-well, and did not realize that the potatoes appeared to be deep fried. The eggs were completely undercooked and running all over the plate. To top it off, the pancakes were totally inedible. We took one bite and left the entire platter on the table.
