DV'S Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Ventura

I took a chance and wanted to try this place, but for take-out. It did not go well. Before I even ordered I called to see if certain items on the menu came with a side of rice and beans so I knew whether I needed to order a side or not. I was assured the chipotle burrito came with a side of rice and beans. I took a few minutes and looked at the menu and called back to place an order.

It wasn't until I got home I realized my order was wrong. I ordered a wet burrito with the avocado on the side. But they did not make it wet and there was no avocado. I called and spoke to the manager to ask for a refund but they refused. They said all he "could" do was refund the $2 charge for the wet burrito. He also continued to argue with me when I told him his staff told me the burrito came with a side of rice and beans.

In the end he refused to refund me for the burrito despite not delivering what I ordered and I had to initiate a charge-back with my bank. I can understand an order mistake, but not a refusal to refund an item that was...

So it’s lent and I was starving as I was driving through Ventura, knowing it was a Friday and I’ve finally dedicated myself not to eat meat on Friday’s during lent, I figured a bean and cheese burrito would be the ticket. As I browsed through the menu the cheese enchiladas sounded off loudly, so doing what any good patron would do, I indulged in both. I ordered two cheese enchiladas along with the bean and cheese burrito.

Upon being seated I was served some chips and a solid salsa, although I shouldn’t be eating a bunch of chips and salsa, I couldn’t resist, in fact, I requested more.

Today was my first time stopping in at DV’s and I was pleasantly surprised. Normally I wouldn’t so easily give 5 stars but it was all around great. My only complaint today was I on my lunch break and didn’t have the opportunity to dine in and enjoy more of the great food. However I ordered a tri-tip burrito to go and a pastor taco. The tri-tip burrito was amazing, by far one of the best ones I’ve had in some time. Can’t wait to go back and have it again and bring some family and friends with me. Staff was nice and friendly, helpful too. Chips and salsa were pretty good too. Prices were very reasonable for the portion size and good tasting flavorful food.
