Halsted Street Deli — Restaurant in Vernon Hills

So I come in this place quite often the food is good I always get the same thing but today will be my last day coming here. It wasn’t that busy and most of you that go there know there is a yogurt place connected to deli. So I asked them to make me a smoothie. The man said he was too busy to help me right now. So you’re telling me that I come here almost 3 times a week if not more and a good customer and you just don’t have time to make me a smoothie ? Then why do you have the other section open if no one is available to work over there. How do you just tell a customer something like that. I worked at Portillo as a manager and many other restaurants I’m sorry but if you’re short staffed then you need to figure that out. The girl next to him even laughed at what he said. How rude. Today is definitely my Last time going there. Good food but customer service is horrible. And this was the MANAGER that said this to me. Just...

I went here for lunch for the first time. I had high hopes based off some of the reviews I read. I agree the service was great. Everyone was very friendly and I received my order quickly. There was a bit of sticker shock. $12 for a tiny cup of chili and a sandwich is a bit much.

My carryout order was packaged exceptionally well. You can see they wrapped the chili container in plastic wrap to protect from leakage. I appreciate that small step. I'm pretty sure I would have had a mess on my hands had the container not been wrapped.

The taste of the food was just ok. The chili was way too salty. This place is not somewhere I would go again. I wanted to try something new on a cold winter...

The people working here are great! Very friendly and helpful. The food is good, fresh sandwiches, salads, and soup reasonably priced. They work with me with my low carb diet and don't overcharge me for substitutions. The atmosphere is basic and clean, but they always have the Marquee station on TV, so it's fun to catch up on the Cubs. Turkey Tuesday is fun for a change of pace... turkey on my salad...
