Just go somewhere else. This place isn’t worth it.
There are many establishments in Lincolnshire/Vernon Hills (shoutout Lazy Dog) with much better quality food, drinks, and service.
The food is mediocre at best - everything is frozen and then heated to order so nothing is fresh. Might as well be a Wisconsin dive bar. Incredibly salty and all you taste is the fat they have to drench the food in to give it any flavor. And, their prices are pretty high on things like appetizers. So, not even as good as a dive bar.
The beer isn’t great. I’ve only tried a handful, but I’ve had to keep switching to try and find something I like. Unfortunately, it doesn’t exist here. The last Cloud Cover I had, there was something off - almost tasted like chlorine.
Outside of the food and drink, management is lackluster. We had purchased a promotional gift card in December for $100 and then they gave you two $25 gift cards to be used in January/February. Nice, we thought.
We went in January with some friends during the week and we got the half priced apps and used our $25 promo gift card. Great, no issues.
We went in February during the week and got the buy one get one app and was NOT allowed to use the $25 promo gift card. The manager said it was due to their system not accepting the $25 promo gift card. Well, why could we use it the month before without issue? It makes no sense and we were given a rambling answer about how it’s the “systems fault” that they can’t accept it. Absolutely unacceptable - you’re the manager in charge. Do something!
So, needless to say, we won’t back. Avoid this place and...
Read moreThe food at Half Day Brewing Company is generally quite good, in my experience. The prime rib sandwich is my go to, it's well sized, and a nice balance of flavors. I prefer the fries (which are well seasoned) to the chips that come by default.
As is usually the case, the food is better fresh in person than delivered. This is especially true with things like the Wisconsin Cheese Curds, which are lovely in person.
The variety of beers is impressive, with something for everyone. Many are unique to Half Day Brewing Company, but they have a selection of more conventional options as well, for those who prefer a known quantity.
One word of warning, though, is the bar area is quite loud in the evening. Conversation at a table is still doable, but requires a bit more effort than some places. Not a good choice if you've got a headache.
There is a good amount of space in the bar area, and it didn't feel too crowded. It struck a good balance for me, as I'm slowly dipping a toe back into public spaces after COVID precautions are removed enough to do so.
Overall, I highly recommend Half Day Brewing Company as a place to meet up with friends for a meal and a drink, in a boisterous atmosphere. It's quickly becoming a...
Read moreWe were excited to try this place out as I drive past it everyday coming home from work. We were also looking for something to compete with Beer Market across the street. We probably won't be coming back however.
Pros: decent beer seletion good prices on beer lots of TVs in the bar area, big open space to find a table to sit at. no waits
Cons: THE SERVICE IS TERRIBLE Starting with the bartenders, there was one female and one male when i went. The male knew his beer, but would vanish for 20 minutes at a time. The female was trying to get to everyone around the bar and it was too much. At one point she was doing his job for him. At no point should your glass be sitting empty for 10 minutes at a time at a bar. We then sat at a table and tried to order food. The server would just look towards us and continue cleaning up other tables before getting our order. side note, are there no bus boys for the tables in the bar area?? It was a pain in the ass even trying to get a pizza order in, let alone trying to get more beer. Nobody seems to care really. pizza was OK. We did not try much of the rest of the food at this point because we couldn't order it.
We wont be back though..service was...
