I recently had the pleasure of dining at No Manches in Vernon Hills, and I cannot express enough how outstanding the service provided by Edgar was throughout my entire visit. From the moment I walked through the doors, he made me feel welcome and ensured that my dining experience was truly exceptional.

There are a ton of Mexican restaurants in the area stretching from Wheeling to the south, through Buffalo Grove, to Vernon Hills nd Libertyville to the north. No Manches is wedged in the middle on the edge of Vernon Hills almost in Lincolnshire. And it's a fabulous location with outdoor seating, plenty of parking, and a nice sized indoor area with booth, table, and bar seating.

It's a cool interior with graffiti style artwork on the walls made with blacklight paint for when the lights are lower and they still want you to get those perfect Insta perfect pictures.

However, the one main drawback is the music. They pump it in quite loud so it's hard to have a conversation, especially when the place is hopping. The host/hostess controls the volume and tends to turn up the music when a good song comes on and has a heavy bass.

They start you off with water that they. pour from a cool bottle that they leave at the table, along with homemade chips and three dipping sauces: Verde, Roja, and Spicier that the 7th Pillar of Hell.

Our group also ordered the guacamole, which they said was wonderful and looked seriously fresh. I'm not a guac guy, but if I was, I'm sure it would be quite tasty.

Since there were four of us, we decided to share the De Tocho Morocho Parrillada which is Spanish for a crapload of fajitas. Did you ever want to get fajitas with everything they have AND the kitchen sink? This is that dish: grilled chicken, skirt steak, pastor, chorizo, and shrimp, served with (WITH?!) carmelized onions, mixed bell peppers, green onions (the biggest scallions this side of the Mason-Dixon line), chiles toreados, and nopal. We had it with both flour and corn tortillas and each person gets an individual plate (platter) with rice, refried beans in a taco bowl, a small salad, sour cream, and guacamole. It was insane...and delicious! It was a ton of food that we simply didn't finish.

I normally get the tamales which are also very good and come in pork or chicken.

This is a great spot for friends, dates, families, listening to good (and loud) music, and having a good time. And they do something special for birthdays. I'm not gonna spoil the surprise but if you're thinking it involves ice cream, a sombrero, and singing, I'd say you might be on...
