Charlie's Fresh Catch — Restaurant in Vernon

Although I've never actually stopped in here to actually shop for fresh seafood, I love coming by about once a month for either the fish or shrimp tacos or a haddock dinner. Prices for prepared meals are about the same as you'd pay at a supermarket seafood counter, but the food here is always crispy, and the fish is flaky and not bathing in grease. Serving sizes aren't enormous, but even as a big guy, I'm usually satisfied. I even enjoy the cole slaw, which is something I've never been a fan of. My aunt swears by the Codfish sandwich, even though she says it's a little inconsistent. I've also tried the Meatball Marinara pot pie...so filling, I should have saved some for the next day!

Loses a star because they're incredibly stingy with else you get in the bag. You get a half pound of French Fries and two generous fillets with a haddock dinner, but only two little packets of ketchup and a third of a lemon. Seriously? The one time I bought the 8-piece Haddock meal, the fish were cut into rather thin strips, and were a bit drier than in the individual sized meals. I'd recommend spending a bit extra on multiple two-piece meals if you're buying for more than two people.

That aside, this is becoming one of my favorite hole-in-the-wall establishments, and I wish I'd discovered this place sooner than 2024! I called to see if we could get some baked stuffed shrimp, the man who answered the phone was beyond rude. And told me if we weren’t there by 4 PM on the dot we can’t pick up the food. He said it numerous times and was so rude about it. It was as if I was being reprimanded the way he spoke to me. Then as my dad went to pick up the food which he was there 4 minutes early, and asked for a few more baked stuffed shrimp, the rude man made a comment “well if you counted right the first time” and then proceeded to say how they were putting stuff away and it’s a pain to have to take it out to get more shrimp. This man is very unprofessional and to act this way around the holidays when we are giving YOU business is totally unacceptable! Think twice before going here. Good food or not the fact of how rude he was you can get good seafood somewhere else with a place that knows how to treat their customers. WOULD...

I went to Charlie's Fresh Catch as I do every New Year to get my Alaskan Crab Legs and Shrimp but unfortunately it was not within my price range this year. It has gone up quite a bit since last year but I understand.

However, this place always has amazing fresh seafood as well as other food items or condiments you may be interested in. I have never been disappointed with the quality or quantity of seafood I have gotten there. The seafood salad especially is very good.
