We were quite disappointed overall with our visit tio Bao Dumplings in Verona. The food was OK but not inspiring. The service was just awful! We ordered the dumpling sampler and while the filling tasted fine, the dough was fairly thick and our order was tepid, not hot. It was also not that visually appealing. It was just dumplings dumped on a plate. We also ordered the pork soup dumplings which were very hot and not bad (again the dough was thicker than other restaurants) but were not served with the traditional serving ware which made them difficult to eat. The service was terrible! Our server never stopped by to fill our glasses or see how our food was. We had to flag him down for everything including the check. When he gave us the check it was for a different table and was 3 times the amount of our check. We think the problem was there was either a food reviewer or influncer was there to rate the restaurant (they were taking pics of all the food and commenting online about each dish) and all of the servers and the owner we fawning over them and ignoring the other tables. Overall a very...
Read moreI’m Chinese… and it’s reaaaaaallllly hard finding decent Chinese comfort food in the area (and dare I say NJ in general 🥴) but IG recommended this place and I’m really happy about it. No complaints about service; the guys there are super sweet and accommodating! I don’t typically write reviews but I’m really rooting for this place to do well!! And prices are super reasonable. Will likely become my go to spot.
-Pork and scallion dumplings: I almost didn’t order this but this was amazing! Super juicy; you don’t even need the dipping sauce on the side -noodles w sesame sauce: typically a cold dish but I opted for it to be warm. Delicious. Get a side of protein and it would be a perfect meal -hunan chicken, side of rice. Yum -pork soup dumplings: I’m picky and I’d skip this next time. Skin is too thick for my liking -peach oolong tea: I really like that it’s not premade and you can...
Read moreWe had the BEST experience as first time diners. Each dish arrived hot and the ingredients were all very fresh. We loved how the vegetables included weren’t mostly onions, as is the case in other restaurants. To our surprise, the owner had the chef whip up a dish after we mistakingly ordered the wrong one. My suggestion is to order the soup dumplings right when you arrive and have as an appetizer! Street parking is best on the same side of the restaurant, or use the crosswalk at PVW if you park on the opposite side - Bloomfield Ave at dinner time is crazy busy with...
