We recently had our son’s baptism brunch at the Parkside Social and it was such an incredible experience, from start to finish. The online inquiry form/email was super simple to fill out. The catering manager, Melissa, was prompt and cordial in her reply to us and within a day or two, we were visiting the restaurant to take a look at the Oak room. It was the perfect choice for our intimate gathering. Melissa helped us curate the perfect menu for our day within our budget and helped us make changes along the way to best suit our needs. Her professionalism and attention to detail ensured that our brunch would be perfect. Next on to decorating: the Oak room is gorgeous and doesn’t need much, but I would obviously be stuck at the church an hour before the event, so I wouldn’t be able to get in early. I asked Melissa if management would allow us to come late the night before to decorate and they had said yes. Once I arrived the night prior, I was met at the front of house by Vika. She was very kind and her and her other coworker (whose name I can’t remember, I’m so sorry!) helped me unload the minimal decor we did have. The dining room was in use, so I couldn’t actually decorate that night, but Vika assured me that she would take care of it in the morning. She ensured my flowers got into water, and even sent me photos of the decor to make sure I approves of it. When we arrived on site, everything looked beautiful. Vika was even able to help me in a pinch with my personal items and as a breastfeeding mother, that really meant the world to me. She went above and beyond to ensure my family and I were comfortable and had everything we needed. The restroom was clean and even had a foldable changing table for bubs. Now let’s get to the best part: the food. OMG. It was so delicious and fresh. Our favorite dishes were the snowy mountains, the mac and cheese and of course those sugared donuts 😍 we can’t wait to come back for brunch again sometime soon! The entire staff at the Parkside Social, especially Vika and Melissa, was fantastic and we owe the success of our...
Read moreI wish I had a better time, but I have to be honest. Upon arrival we were received perfectly fine and greeted it by the server named Cava who informed us that she had a trainee who would be shadowing her. We proceeded to order our drinks, which were great. My wife had a cosmopolitan, and I had a Smokin Hole (I think). We ordered our appetizers, my wife had the Barrata and I had them mofongo. The Barrata was fine, but the Mofongo was lacking seasoning. There was no salt and pepper on the table so I asked for some sort of hot sauce. I waited a good 10 minutes before I saw the waitress again, and asked her again for the hot sauce which arrived about 5 minutes later, at which point the appetizer was pretty cold and it was pointless to add anything too. We ordered and I had the black bass special. The food arrived and it was a 2” x 2” piece of black bass very overcooked for $35. Normally I wouldn’t mind the cost if it was cooked well, but it was a consistency of a hockey puck , the best part of the dish was the bed of Mexican street corn that it was on. Through our entire meal, we were looking to get a refill on our drinks and the waitress didn’t arrive till we were 20 minutes into it. My wife ordered another Cosmopolitan, which never came. A different staff member came and cleared our Table as we waited for drinks. Another person came by to the table, and asked how is everything? We said “not too great, everything seems to be becoming late and we can’t find our waitress”. He literally looked at us, smiled and said “that’s great. That’s great” and walked away from our table. The waitress finally came by and we asked for the check and told her to cancel the Cosmopolitan. We informed her that our drink never came. And she said “OK “. No apology or explanation. When we asked for the check, they gave us the dessert menu. we asked for the check again promptly paid and left. Overall, it was a lackluster performance by the staff And a serious letdown on the main course. I’m usually a fan of this kind of place, but this one...
Read moreMy husband and I visited the Parkside Social for the first time this week.
My main issue is with their reservation system. To make an online reservation, you have to provide your credit card information, which I am not a fan of. Instead of making a reservation in advance, I called the night we wanted to go to inquire about availability.
The hostess told me that there was a table for two available but that she couldn't make me a reservation. I told her we would head right over, but that we live 15 minutes away.
As soon as we arrived, the hostess asked if we had a reservation. I told her no, but explained that we had just called and were told there was a table for two. She said she would be right back, and proceeded to walk around the restaurant for an extended period of time.
While she was gone, another hostess appeared. She didn't know we were already being helped, so I explained once again that we had just called inquiring about a table for two. She then said, "Oh, you are THOSE people." What an odd and unwelcoming comment.
When the original hostess returned, she said they didn't have a table for us and that we would have to sit in the bar. I questioned what happened to the table they referred to on the phone. Their response was that it was taken. This service is a huge turn off.
The restaurant is currently decorated for Christmas. It is cozy and definitely quite festive for this time of year.
The holiday themed cocktails were unique and served in holiday themed glassware. The Krampus was my favorite.
The food was good, especially the brussel sprouts. The appetizers are very small portions so if you are in a group, I suggest ordering multiple.
Definitely get the donuts for dessert. They were amazing.
Good for a one time visit during the holidays but I don't think I'd return due to the poor...
