I recently had the pleasure of playing at Heroes Golf Course in West LA, and it’s a hidden treasure. The course is compact and well-designed, offering a fun challenge without the time commitment of a full 18-hole round. The best part? It’s free for veterans, a meaningful perk that truly honors those who’ve served.
The layout is perfect for practicing your short game, with well-maintained greens and just enough elevation changes to keep things interesting. The staff is friendly, professional, and welcoming, making the entire experience even more enjoyable. Whether you’re a seasoned golfer or just looking for a relaxed round, this course has a lot to offer.
Highlights of My Experience: • Course Layout: Well-maintained 9-hole course, great for a quick game. • Veteran Benefit: Free for veterans—a wonderful gesture of appreciation. • Staff & Service: Friendly and professional, making for a great atmosphere. • Overall Experience: Highly recommended for anyone looking for a casual but enjoyable round of golf in West LA.
If you’re a veteran or just someone who enjoys a good round of golf with a great atmosphere, Heroes Golf Course is definitely...
Read moreExecutive course with short narrow fairways. Good for short game practice. no reservations, first come first serve. Kinda hidden in the back of this big veteran's land. No driving range but you can practice putting. The greens are beautiful for a public course! You can actually see the fairway and rough difference. That means they have a lawn mower that works and maintenance that are good at their job. There are trees that can get in between the tee and the flag. No bunkers but short bushes/ hedges and a ravine that will make your ball disappear should you hit towards it. Good workout to walk since it's hilly on some parts. Very straight shots recommended as the fairways are right next to each other. My only negative observation is how hole 4 & 5 are not interconnected. You have to walk back the fairway you came from to get to hole #5. Expect to play with our country's vets as they play...
Read moreI first tried out this course when I signed up for a lesson with the on-site PGA Coach, Carlos.
It's a good Par 3 for a beginner looking to improve his or her short game. You don't need anything bigger than a 7 iron and there aren't any bunkers or water hazards to worry about. You do have to be careful around the rough, however.
The facility is well-maintained and fun to play. Sure, golf carts are not allowed and you have to carry your clubs or rent a push cart. But it's not that big and feels nice to walk.
The course is also lenient with tee time group size. Most courses in the area require single golfers to join a random group. But this course is never too busy so you can play a practice round on your own. The catch is you can't play more than 2 balls on each hole.
The best part is knowing that the course fees funds programs to help with veteran...
