Casa Leon Cantina 1973 — Restaurant in Victoria

Went in around 5:45, got a booth immediately. Waited about 15 mins for anyone to stop by for the first time. We were ready to order when we ordered drinks

After literally 50 minutes from ordering, the food arrived. At this point, we had been sitting on a table with chips and drinks for an hour and the waitress checked on us maybe twice. (more chips is $3 per serving btw)

My food was supposed to come with potatoes, they put beans instead. I said "that is not supposed to have beans" and the waitress asked snarkly "you want me to send the whole plate back?" and I said "yea, thats not what I ordered, the bean is all over the food" the manager came and said "sorry we ran out of potatoes and put beans instead" ... nobody told me, you are changing my food, at least have the courtesy to tell or ask "is that ok?" especially when the food is not going to be kosher anymore.

We also had ordered a to go for someone else that we planned on taking the food to after we eat. Since it had been over an hour, he had already gone home after his work and ate. They would not cancel that order because it was already made... over an hour later

Not only they got my order wrong on purpose, they messed up my friend's order as well. I ordered an enchilada dish and my friend ordered tacos al carbon. not that uncommon at a Mexican restaurant.

It was time to pay. Still no waitress. My friend got up and handed the check and the cash to another waitress, after seeing that, I went to the car to wait, after another 10 mins, I went back inside. I had to find the waitress that got everything wrong and asked "have you been paid yet?" and she went "yea I am just on my way to get the change." 10mins to get the change

I have so many other options for mexican food. I don't see myself coming back here for a long...

We were really looking forward to trying this new restaurant, but unfortunately, the experience didn’t even come close to meeting our expectations. We waited 45 minutes for our food, which already set the tone for the afternoon.

My wife’s steak was a complete miss — she clearly asked for “well-well done, no blood, no pink,” but it came out pink and raw in the middle. When she sent it back, they did cook it properly, but we waited another 10 minutes for the replacement.

The carne guisada I ordered was another disappointment. It was overwhelmingly salty, masking any real flavor the dish might have had. The texture and taste felt like reheated leftovers — more like something from a can than a freshly cooked meal.

For the prices they’re charging, we expected much higher quality and consistency. The food presentation was average, and the taste didn’t live up to the look or the atmosphere of the place.

We truly hope management steps up — faster service, fresher ingredients, and better attention to seasoning and cooking temperatures would make a huge difference. This restaurant has a long way to go before it reaches its potential.

Organization and execution need serious...

Ok my HONEST review … 1st day of opening (Wednesday Oct 29th) we went and it was very good great service and food was fresh and good. Plating and presentation was not a hit , looks like the food was just slapped on a plate . Taste was ok . The street corn was the best item we ate .

Went again tonight (Saturday November 1st ) ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE! We sat and didn’t get drinks till 30 minutes later . Didn’t get chips and salsa due to them running out . Took another 20-30 minutes to get our order . We wait 1hour and 45 mins to get our food and it was cold . Ran out of fries and they brought 1 plate out at a time in increments of 5-8 minutes we all started sharing plates at this time , never refilled our drinks . Went to ordered desert and they were out of everything we wanted . So sad I brought my kids to enjoy since I enjoyed the first day but the last trip did us in we will NOT go back !
