Food was ehh. If you have experienced authentic pho this place will disappoint, but if you want to try it out then it's a good place to start.
Biggest issue was that they were under staffed and the manager (owner?) Was rude and yelled at his waiter in front of a full restaurant. There was a situation with a customer's food and he yelled at the waiter (who doesn't cook?) That he was "going to pay for it".
The statement above is 1) illegal 2) threatening and harassment of the employee and 3) made the atmosphere super uncomfortable. He yelled for the entire restaurant to hear and the waiter was obviously scared and confused.
It took us a really long time to get out bill due to there only being 2 servers for 18ish tables. They were also serving, cleaning, ringing in orders and etc. And the whole time the same manager (owner???) Just walked around with a grumpy frown on his face and yelled in his native language.
I'm not blaming the staff at all. They were all very kind and hard working. Both servers were attentive and tried their hardest to help everyone but they were so clearly overwhelmed that I felt guilty for asking for anything.
I also watched as two children ran in front of servers as they handled plates of steaming pho, almost spilling it. These children seemed to be the same Grumpy Managers kids. He never seemed to care that they were in danger. I understand the tradition of brining kids to work, but this was irresponsible . No one was watching them .
Overall I would not come back. Not until upper management learns how to handle and compose themselves in front of guest. If you want good service and good food, I recommend Pho Kobe much more. They are always kind and the workers are never yelled at. The food is much better too.
EDIT: looks like I'm not the only person to experience issues with this manager. Check out previous reviews for more stuff of this dude. Definitely don't give him...
Read moreMy wife and I went there for dinner and we both ordered our food. Several other groups of people came in and sat down. The appetizer came out in a timely manner. My wife’s soup came out approximately 20 minutes later. We then sat there for the next 40 minutes and waited for my order. It never came. However, everyone else who came to the restaurant after us received their food. The waitress finally asked us if everything was OK. I told her everything was OK except for the fact that I never received my food. Since we were there an hour already and my food wasn’t even started in the kitchen we decided to just pay and leave. A different waiter came to our table to have us pay and told us what the bill was. He did not offer any discount or even a free soda because they forgot to bring my food. I paid the bill and still left a tip for the waiter. i told the waiter that maybe next time that they forget to bring a customers food, that they knock off the charge for at least one of the sodas. The male waiter abruptly answered me with an attitude, and stated that he can’t do this, and that only the manager can. I then advised him that this was not the point of my comment and that the manager should have already taken...
Read moreWent here with a buddy an hour or so before closing. Can be kind of confusing when you walk in if you've never ordered here before -- there's a big line going up to the counter. That's the take out line. If you want to dine in, just go sit at a table and someone will come give you a menu. Probably.
Biggest problem with this place was service. They had two waiters and not a whole lot of table checkins. We were here for about an hour and had someone stop by after food to see if we wanted another beer one time. Asked for my check, waiter seemed displeased with that slightly, brought the check and then immediately went on break and had a bowl of noodles a few tables over. I had immediately put my card in the check folder but it sat there for 10+ minutes till I waived another waiter down. Service is meh at best.
Food was good. Got the pork bahn mi (they call it Vietnamese Sandwiches) and a bowl of Special Pho. Some of the Phos are $25-28, not really a good value in my opinion but the $14-16 bowls are a good value and taste great. Make sure to ask for some chilie seasoning to up your spice game.
Worth a shot, just get to go or don't be shy about flagging...
