Searched local bakeries and found Amici's bakery for planning my father's birthday party. Busy in life I waited of course last day to swing in to check them out and to see what was in stock to purchase. (Grocery store logic) After my initial realization of my last minute preparations recoiling effect and embarrassment of not placing my order in advance with Maria I was going to settle on no cake from amici. I was just going to purchase a plethora of baked goods in her glass cabinet display as they all looked awesome. My father is very picky and maybe choices was a good idea. Maria with grace and determination of making me a happier customer asked when I would be needing this birthday cake. She was not thinking same day but she rolled up her sleeves and said, "What kind of Cake would my father like?" Embarrassed I said," no no no" but she insisted. I placed my order for cannoli cake and she told me to return in 4 hours! With my tail between my legs I purchased a few glass cabinet items and the cake. Maria is a super hero but her cape is backwards as an apron! I brought the eclair and cookies home and between my 3 children, wife, and I the baked goods went quickly. I became excited about the quality of the cake because her own recipe for cannoli creme was the best I personally have tried in that eclair. I returned and picked up the cake to be ready for after his birthday dinner at our house. My father is one who is picky on what he eats and hates when his kids spend money on him so naturally he humors us. I knew I wanted something different as he hates boring boxed cakes and grocery store cakes. Well, after candles he had his piece and he was quite quiet and content! Win! Never does this happen! We all had our slice and we all savored and enjoyed it. I boxed up the other half and handed it to my father. He always fights me on situations like this... not this time! Maria he took it HOME! I secretly didn't want him to but I have been back to Amici's 3x now and I will plan ahead for now on! So should YOU! You won't be disappointed with...
Read moreAmici’s is so lucky to have Michelle as their pastry chef. Michelle is a pastry genius and a true artist. She baked the treats for our rehearsal dinner and wedding in October and everyone could not stop talking about A) how beautiful it all was and B) how great it all tasted. She made us 2 types of shooters (key lime pie and chocolate peanut butter) for the rehearsal dinner (to show our FL and OH heritage). We told her our idea for that and trusted her creativity and expertise and were blown away by how cute they were and how amazing they tasted. For our wedding, we got a cake, pastry tray, and a bunch of mini cupcakes. All beautiful, all amazing. She even packed me and my (now) husband a personal box that we got to eat and munch on that night, the next morning and for days after. The few desserts that were leftover lasted us over a week in the fridge and were still awesome. Aside from the talent, Michelle is just so sweet, personable, and really cared about giving us a product we were happy with. When our wedding was delayed a week due to the hurricane, she worked with us and adjusted our order to accommodate the smaller guest count, and was so helpful throughout the whole process. Every time we went into Amici’s over our 18 month engagement, we left with a box of treats to share with family (sometimes mini cookies, sometimes the large cookies, sometimes cupcakes, and always a cannoli). Everything we would get was great. I couldn’t recommend Amici’s Bakery...
Read moreI called to make our anniversary dinner reservation several weeks in advance. I informed them that it was our one year anniversary. We arrived for dinner ( a few minutes early) and were seated at the table behind the wall. There was a booth available out of the flow of traffic( unfortunately we were not given this). We eat here often and have found the food and service to be outstanding at each of our previous meals. This evening was very very disappointing. We had continuous problems getting service and had to ask repeatedly for bread, salad dressing and a drink correction( the wrong drink was brought to the table). At no time were we asked about our meals and if everything was satisfactory. As we left we spoke with the floor manager and his response was less than satisfactory. This was a one year anniversary dinner and we chose Amici’s to celebrate this occasion. We were also informed by the manager that tables were by reservation — which we made several weeks in advance. An anniversary is a special occasion which we entrusted Amici’s to make memorable however they failed miserably. We were made to feel unappreciated as customers. We have decided to no longer eat at this restaurant due to the bad experience and the managers lack of concern. I would recommend choosing another restaurant other than Amici’s for your special occasion. An anniversary comes only once per year and it should be a pleasurable and positive experience ( this was a very disappointing...
