While in Villa Rica I came across this neat looking BBQ place called Evan's. The outside of the place looked different and looked like a really cool place to eat. First the good stuff. They have three different places to eat there. You can eat in a separate building, a picknick area between the two buildings and inside the main building which is a little small but cozy. The wait staff seemed super friendly and always smiled. Hannah was my waitress and she did an awesome job. The food was served on tin plates which was really cool. People around me had BBQ sandwiches and some had wings. Today I had a BBQ plate with Mac-n-cheese with jalapenos and green beans, and cornbread with a sweet tea. The Mac-n-cheese was ok, it was really really cheesy. In my opinion it had too much cheese. The green beans came straight from the can to my bowl. They needed to be seasoned with something to add flavor because they had none. Hannah brought me some slaw in place of the beans. The slaw was ok. The cabbage had way too much water so the slaw was more of a soup than a slaw. The meat was kinda dry and without the sauce I couldn't have eaten it. I didn't see a smoker outside so I don't think the meat was cooked in a pit or a smoker. The meal was $12.99 with drink. In my opinion it was way over priced for the quality of the food. I believe you are paying for the ambiance of the place more than for the food. If I go back I might try the wings, but not the BBQ.

Wow. If you are traveling down I-20, you will want to make a little effort to get to Evans BBQ Company. You will not regret your decision. The experience starts with the quaint setting in a shaded courtyard. Colorful decor liven up the area. Greeted by a smiling staff enhance the experience as they are on point from overall service to knowledge of the menu and wonderful suggestions. Started with BBQ egg rolls. Crisp on the outside, juicy & flavorful BBQ pork on the inside. Wings were the choice for the three kids. Lemon Pepper, BBQ and Mild were the three choices. They are smoked AND fried. What a combo!! Mild Buffalo was my favorite but would do all three again. A friend and I split the Boss Hog and Chicken fingers. You ask why chicken fingers? Because they are huge chunks of chicken, hand breaded, served crisp. Looking and tasting, it is obvious there is a labor of love going into the dish. The Boss Hog was good. A big sandwich with a little of everything. Don’t get me wrong, it is a great way to get the full experience but the wings were the winner today! Definitely hit this place up if you are near by. Make sure to drink enough of their delicious sweet tea so you don’t fall asleep on the way home. 😁

Evan’s is the real deal if you like BBQ. The spare ribs keep the tips on them so they are very large. They are served in a pail, which was cool. The ribs were fantastic. A nice marbled outside which I love. The sauces are really good. They have a sweet BBQ sauce and a spicy. Both are great and the spicy won’t kill you. It’s tasty more than HOT. I was informed I needed to try the Fried BBQ Egg rolls. This is a must order. It’s unlike anything I’ve ever had. Just delicious. Dunk them in BBQ or dunk them in the provided spicy remoulade, or just eat them straight, you really can’t go wrong. If you only get one thing, get the fried bbq egg rolls. A Completely unique twist on an egg roll. The beans were fantastic and I loved the corn bread also. The only thing I didn’t like was the slaw. It’s just too “smooth” for me. Very fine and not crunchy. I’m sure others may like it, but it’s not for me. When you go, the seating is in the back either outside between the buildings, or in the back building. It’s odd. Evan’s is a terrific meal. I’ll certainly be back the next time I’m anywhere near the area.

I don't live in Villa Rica but I do travel between Birmingham and Atlanta often. Normally I would stop for a meal at my other favorite, Gumbeaux's in Douglasville. They aren't open on Mondays so I looked and found really good reviews for Evan's BBQ. First impression was that it is really easy to miss as you approach it. The restaurant is not your typical building because it is two small buildings. Both have dining rooms. The one closest to the road had the kitchen. The other one has the bathroom.

Whenever I head to a place for the first time I like to ask what they are known for. No hesitation from the server here. Ribs. They don't have racks and half racks. Nope, here they will sell you a bucket or half-bucket. They come with one side.

I can be rather critical when it comes to ribs. At Evan's they had everything that I look for. The ribs are tender, will come away cleanly from the bone, have a good dry rub, and have a great smoky taste. The ribs stand up to the hype!

The sides are good and daily sides are available to keep the choices fresh. The servers have all been well trained and have great personalities. Please be sure to take care of them. They do work hard and rely on tips for their income.

Evan's is one of two BBQ places that have really impressed me. It makes me want to live in Villa Rica because on my drive through habit I am always looking forward to the ribs and haven't tried the other entrees. It is one of those hole in the wall places that are a great hidden gem. Come check them out and I'm sure they will become your...

We've loved this restaurant for years. It has one of the coolest atmospheres for a restaurant in the area. The food is always good as well. They offer dine-in (indoor & outdoor), call ahead pick-ups, and have a drive through. we love the half chicken plate, ribs, and catfish special.

Service used to be top notch.. but the last 3 times we've visited we have been very taken aback. I took my parents there for the first time a few weeks ago and my dad asked if we could hang out at the picnic tables, but get our food to go. The 'server' was extremely rude to him and said no just go to the drive through as if we were wasting his time(we were the only people there, so table space wasn't an issue). Our order was very large and my dad is a generous tipper, so as soon as the guy saw the tip his attitude changed for the better. Fast forward to last week, we go in to pick up a to-go order and the same guy is inside screaming at his fellow employees. Honestly couldn't believe the way he was speaking to them in the first place and continued to do so in front of customers. We stood there waiting and finally a female server helped us check out. My husband made a remark "must be the owners son" as a joke, but the woman raised her eyebrows and said "it actually is". Extremely disappointing to know that is his attitude all the time. Not sure we will be continuing to dine here if...
