We hit a home run with this hidden jewel! Monarca, is a cozy and small restaurant that is ideal for a quiet dinner and tasty cuisine. Their booking app was Toast Tables, one I'm unfamiliar, but functioned similarly to Open Table, and worked efficiently.
Parking on Friday (1/6/24) evening was $1.25 for 2.5 hours, more than enough time for our visit.
Our server/host was Wilmer, who we found to be very welcoming and friendly. He worked the floor almost single-handedly, but was able to avail himself to answer questions and provide quality service.
To start, we ordered margaritas. Julie had the strawberry and I had the classic. These drinks were made perfectly and tastefully. They were probably the best drinks we've ever had, including the ones we've enjoyed in Mexico! We shared a delicious Caesar's Salad that had crispy greens and flavorful dressing. I savored the medium-rare rib eye steak, though it was a bit pricey. Julie said her chicken tacos were the best tacos she's ever had! For dessert we shared a Vanilla Crème brûlée, that was outstandingly fresh!
We finally found our golden spot that I'm sure we will frequent with future regularity! Way...
Read moreWe went here to try some where new and was pleasantly surprised. The bread basket was warm and the pesto spread was very tasty and nicely textured. Soup or salad comes with the meal--hardly every see that anymore--it was a nice surprise though it did keep us from sharing an appetizer. The Pea soup was tasty and the salad was made with mixed greens and was very fresh. We ordered the ribeye and tropical salmon. The salsa on the salmon was fresh (though not pineapple as menu described--it was mango) and delicious. Brought a lightness to the dish. I ordered double veg (menu said asparagus, but mixed veg came) and they were beautifully cooked and seasoned. Nice serving sizes as well. Mashed potatoes were YUMMMY!! and the broccoli was cooked and seasoned nicely. The main entrees--salmon and ribeye were both just slightly overdone for our taste, but were seasoned well. Will...
Read moreThis is a family-owned business, and a lot of the family works there. They obviously love what they do.
I've been there on numerous occasions. I have never had a bad meal there. Every one was uniformly excellent. The diversity of the cuisine is interesting, with many combinations you would not think of, but all work well. This has become mty wife's favorite restaurant, and we eat out a lot.
The staff is very pleasant and don't make mistakes, the owner/chef is terrific both professionally and personally, and goes out of his way to make customers satisfied. It's working.
It's so good that we recently held a combined birthday party for my daughter and myself, rented the whole place for an afternoon, and had friends and relatives come and go between noon and 5PM. I tasted a dozen different dishes and not one disappointed.
Highly...
