My wife and I are major foodies, but we rarely go out to eat because we are generally disaappointed whenever we do. Places never live up to the hype and more often than not the quality of the food never meets are expectations. That being said, we were so pleasantly surprised by our first-time visit to Relish for a recent Friday night dining experience. The place is fabulous, from the decor to the service and especially the food. The relish buffet is not to be missed; expertly curated with all sorts of goodies and wonderfully priced at just five bucks! I had their fantastic cod fish fry which was served piping hot with some of nicest, flakiest and crispy pieces of cod I've had in a long time. But the real star of the show were the potato pancakes that were unlike any I've ever before. They had a slightly sweet flavor which we learned were from a hint of sweet potato they incorporate into their recipe. They were fantastic. My wife had the salmon which was equally as flavorful and expertly prepared, served with sautéed spinach and mushrooms with a wonderful beurre blanc sauce. The risotto that accompanied it was equally fantastic and tasty. Overall, the food was very high-quality and so reasonably priced. Relish also hit high marks for service as well: prompt, friendly and very attentive. We sat in the bar at a high-top table and our server, Ashley, also happens to be Relish's bar manager. She was absolutely fantastic for all of reasons mentioned previously. Diane, the general manager, also stopped by our table for a quick chat to ensure we were having a good time. You can tell she takes alot of pride in running this establishment and it definitely shows. She is a fantastic host and you can tell she's done a great job building a solid, service-oriented team there that really knows the hospitality business. 10 out of 10 experience....
Read moreI don't know what they were when they first opened, but they are NOT a supper club now. They are a crowded bar with a restaurant that is SO loud we had to yell to the person sitting next to us at the table to hear each other. It was headache inducing so I ate fast to get out of there. The only place I could hear myself think was the restroom, and once in there I didn't want to go back out in the chaos. A supper club provides a relish tray on the table. They provide a relish bar that costs extra if you want to go get stuff yourself. Disappointing.
Now to the positive.
The service was outstanding. I repeated our server's name in my head a few times, but have since forgotten it - we went Saturday night and it's now Monday morning. Probably ran from the noise...hehehe. He was charming, friendly, attentive, non-intrusive; all the things you want when spending money on a night out to eat. It was a full house, but we never had to track him down for anything. Would definitely want him as our server again.
The food was delicious. Among the five us, three had the Prime Rib, one had the New York, and I had the Glazed Ribs. Everyone enjoyed their food. The bread put on the table was warm and inviting. My pre-dinner drink was the Mudslide. Yummy. The first course salads were more than just a typical house salad of lettuce and tomato. Interesting ingredients that I've never had, but very good and made for a very well balanced flavor profile. The ribs were very tender and fell off the bone. It was a full slab so I took much home for lunch Sunday, along with half my baked potato which I ordered loaded. One thing needing to be improved here is that each person should receive their OWN butter and sour cream when ordered as we did have to continually...

👍 Onion rings. This is not your average deep fried onion rings. I don't like weird onion rings. They were big rings of deep fried onion. It was candied bacon and cheese sauce drizzled over the onion rings. Sweet, tangy, salty, cheesey, and crispy. . Very good!
👍 I had the fish fry. 3 big flaky, crispy, pieces of deep fried cod. Fries, coleslaw, and tartar sauce. The french fries were like curly wedges. 👍
The atmosphere was kinda old fashioned country farmhouse. Beautiful wood floors and walls. Big bar. I came for dinner, I didn't look around too much. Looks there is large outdoor patio. Lots of steps to climb up to the deck.
The relish bar wasn't as big as it looked on pictures. It is just a small corner. The pickles, olives, and deviled eggs were the stars.
There was a problem with the ketchup bottle. I asked my server for help. He accidentally squirted too much ketchup and kinda ruined the french fries.
My server was great, charming and attentive. Some times his timing was slow. He could move through dining room smoothly.
Watch out for floor in dining area, it was very slippery. When I was trying to adjust myself and get up my chair would slide around. I saw a child rushing towards her family's dining table, she slipped on the floor. I was afraid of slipping and falling.
Watch out for the parking lot, it was hard to find a spot. The parking lot is down a slope, narrow, and one way.
Watch out for the entryway from the street side, the stairs are high and not much to hang on to help a person. No railings. I found out that there was another entry for people mobility issues.
I thought I was very hungry but I had so much food, I couldn't finish my whole meal. I'm sorry I kinda...
