Beach Bum Bakery — Restaurant in Village of Pewaukee

I was so pleasantly surprised to stumble upon Beach Bum Bakery! I was on a desperation hunt for last-minute birthday cupcakes for my daughter with hopes to avoid resorting to the grocery store; and was so fortunate that my Google search led me to land upon this lovely, laid-back bakery on the lakefront strip with such delectable treats. When I walked in, there was a display case full of various different baked goods (priced on par with other bakeries), including a lovely assortment of cupcakes that were adorably decorated by flavor/theme. It was nice to see a small seating area, which is convenient for those who want to pop in for a quick treat like the dad and his daughter who were sitting down and enjoying an after school treat together. I was not at all surprised to see that there only a few left of the white frosted cupcakes I was seeking, as my expectations were very low for any bakery to have a dozen left in the afternoon. I was ready to walk out until Sarah asked if there was anything in particular that I was looking for, so I sheepishly said that I was hoping to find enough cupcakes for my daughter and her volleyball team…by tonight. Much to my delight, I was told that she had some more in the back that she could frost for me…12 at that! And a huge plus that she didn’t seem annoyed in the least to offer this even though she was closing soon. She even put on sprinkles to match my daughter’s team colors:). Then the taste test…the girls raved about how delicious they were! Another girl who has an upcoming birthday even told her mom that she didn’t think they couldn’t beat how good those cupcakes were:). Talk about an impromptu success! I will definitely be going here again… with better planning of course;). Highly recommend checking out Beach Bum Bakery...

Incredibly disappointed with the service and lack of professionalism. I wanted to purchase a cake for my birthday and had my mother call to see if they were able to make the type of cake I wanted. They told her that they were able to do the cake, we would just have to place a custom order. No mention of being completely booked out. A few hours later, we both arrived at the bakery to place our order. Before even discussing the details of the cake or price, we asked the young woman at the counter if they were open on Sunday’s—she told us they were. We then told her we needed the cake for Sunday, May 18th (over two weeks away at this time). Without checking any sort of schedule or calendar, she immediately told us that they were entirely booked out until exactly May 18th, which sounded odd considering she hadn’t told us that over the phone. We restated the date to make sure she had heard us correctly and she confirmed that they were completely busy until then. The next day, I called back myself and expressed my interest in placing a custom cake order and gave them the date of May 17. The woman on the phone immediately told me that that would work and I could place an order for that day. At this point I was very upset and my mom and I later called back and spoke to the owner who dismissed the incident by merely stating that her employee simply “had her dates mixed up.” She even checked the calendar and confirmed the date was good. Me and my mom got the impression that the employee didn’t want to serve us because of who we were and therefore lost a customer for the business because of her own prejudices. We were not offered any recourse from the owner, only a “I’m glad you found another bakery...

This adorable little place is beyond wonderful!!! I came to this bake shop one afternoon about 6 months ago picking up treats for my DIL's party and was awed by the gorgeous creativity and the surprisingly wide selection for a one woman bakery. She even had keto brownies, which were beyond delicious to this "yum starved" lady :D The shop proprietor was so helpful and went above and beyond in suggesting other possibilities for my own special needs. I never expected to see anything keto or even the super wide selection at that time of day in a little bakery because most baked goods cases are usually emptied out way before noon. I was so happy to "discover" Beach Bum that it has become my regular go to for all delectables. She makes everything by hand, fresh and with a love for her craft that you can taste in every bite!!! And she can make ANYTHING and make it GORGEOUS!! Of course, Beach Bum is the only place I go now and I stay ahead of the pack by calling in my special orders for all birthdays, parties, get-togethers and regular Sunday meeting donuts
