UPDATE: The owners reached out after my initial review and were more than accommodating and helpful in fixing the situation. Thank you so much! They were very kind about it and it seemed to be much more of the kind of people and service I was used to. I've since been back to Brookers with friends many times and have had great experiences once again - thank you!

I go to this place VERY often! I've also suggested this place to my family and friends, and recommended this place very highly! I've been with my friends many times. Last time (about 2 weeks ago) it was about 12 of us that came. When I heard it was family owned and first met the owners I thought they were so nice and really wanted to support this wonderful local business - I think I really have supported this business! It was a 5 star business for a long time in my mind. (note: I'm pretty shocked to read some of the responses by the owner, when I met the owner in person they seemed so nice)

The quality is still good but the reason why I'm giving it 2 stars is lately I feel like things have changed... Please don't lose the things that made me (and I'm sure many others) love this business!! Sizes and prices - I feel like when I first went here the ice cream amounts were very generous. Now it's anything but. NOTE I'VE HAD SEVERAL FRIENDS say the same thing. In addition I have always loved the quality but I had quite a few friends say otherwise, especially for the price they thought it wasn't worth the price (We all live in vineyard) and I've also read some reviews saying the same thing. I know you have quality ice cream but gosh $10 for a large size?! That's a quart at Handels! $16.50 for a quart?! And I don't even get that much in a large anymore! So if you're going to say go ahead and get a Handel's quart instead of coming here I probably would.. Service - typically I love the workers here. Great energy, really nice, good service etc. However I was picking up two quarts for my brother's birthday, I called ahead and placed the order. I was asked by two employees "what time did you call" - I called 10-15 min ahead. In addition instead of questioning the customer question about how long ago I called, they should question who took the call and why the order wasn't placed even when it was confirmed on the phone!! Also there was no apology, it seemed they thought it was more my fault than theirs. This is the third time I've ordered two or more quarts.. so it's not like I didn't know how to. There were more than 2 people working, in fact two people came out to talk about it, one employee started on the quart, the other took time to make the flavor name all fancy. Once she finished with that she went in the back... Instead of making fancy writing please help make the quarts.. I ended up waiting just under 15 minutes, which of course I was late to my brother's birthday by that amount of time that I was waiting.

I've been a huge fan of this place and have supported this place so I hope there won't be a continued lapse in quality of service, and I do hope you err on the side of generosity vs saving a few cents.. the difference may mean a customer being a return...

Brooker's Ice cream is made by serious ice cream makers from the highest-quality ingredients...and it just doesn't taste that good. It's obvious that they use premium ingredients, that they are serious about their ice cream craft, and even more serious about the book-length names of their creations that I guess are supposed to be a history-lesson-in-a-cone or something, but it quite frankly just isn't that good. Flavors are pretty weak and are invariably overpowered by the massive quantities of whatever type of candy or mix-in they've chosen to use. E.g. Patrick Henry's Give Me Chocolate Or Give Me Death tastes like a pile of brownie bits, chocolate ganache, and chocolate truffle, held together with a tablespoon of melted chocolate ice cream. John Hancock's Signature Mint Chocolate Truffle tastes like an entire box full of mint chocolate truffles, held together with a tablespoon and a half of melted, very weak, mint ice cream. Molly Pitcher's Strawberry Cannonier doesn't have any mix-ins, but it tastes only vaguely like strawberry, almost as if they used just a single strawberry per batch, and that strawberry was picked about two months too early. So, if you are looking for ice cream made with the highest quality ingredients, and you enjoy eating it in the ambience created by old-timey harpsichord tunes and teenage servers forced to wear five-layer colonial-era burlap outfits, you may want to try Brooker's. If however you are looking for ice cream that actually tastes good, and is made with quality ingredients, you're better off eating something like Baskin-Robbins. Worth noting also that the owner is comically thin-skinned, and if you express a negative opinion of his ice cream, rather than simply ignoring you or acknowledging that tastes and preferences are highly subjective, he will mock you as an unsophisticated consumer incapable of recognizing...

This is one of our favorite ice cream places in the state! The servers are always amazing--quick, friendly, and helpful. I imagine they hate wearing the bonnets and three-corner hats and stuff, but I have to be honest, I actually think it's so cool and adds to the fun atmosphere. (So, thanks for being good sports about your uniforms, guys!) This location is always clean and has plenty of seating, even when it gets busy.

This is place that does put a lot of extras/mix-ins in the ice cream, but I love that they do that without skimping on quality or flavor. The ice cream is always creamy and delicious, and all the add-ins are well balanced with the flavors. Only very well thought out ideas make it to the menu! We love so many of their flavors, that it's hard to list favorites, but we especially love Mum Bett's Day in Court, John Adams' Ooey Gooey Butter Cake, George Washington's Indispensable Flavour (if you like peanut butter), the Madagascar vanilla (plain, but excellent!), and the Louisiana Purchase. Seriously, though, we've never had a flavor we didn't like.

One of my absolute favorite things here is actually the drinking chocolate -- it is super thick and rich, and the different flavors never taste fakey. It's good on it's own, but getting a chocolate float is an extra...

Likes: The environment and setup of this place is awesome, and the names of the flavors are hilarious. I got the breakfast cereal ice cream and it was delicious! I got a small and it was a little too much with how rich the ice cream is, but it was so good I ate it all. The owner came over and asked how we liked our ice cream. The staff in general was super friendly and their outfits were awesome. They provide water, unlike other places, which is super nice! Dislikes: This was my first time coming here. When I asked for a second sample the owner, who was serving me, seemed a little annoyed. When I asked he confirmed there wasn’t time to try too many with how long the line was. Not a huge deal, but it is a stark contrast to Rockwell ice cream who lets you try every single flavor even when the line is long. I recognize the importance of keeping the line moving though. The size of the samples were tiny compared to Rockwell’s as well. The quality of the ice cream is great, but all of the options have so much going on. I wish they had a few simpler options (like vanilla with cookie dough) for “purests” like me. I’d definitely recommend this place though and would like to try a few more flavors.

My wife and I shared the 5 flavor sampler, we felt like it was a good size for the $11 price tag, and the staff was helpful and had a good attitude. The ice cream itself was fine, not great. The fruit flavors that I tried (strawberry and blackberry in the picture, but I also sampled peach) were fairly weak flavored, I could barely taste the fruit in them. They weren't bad, but I wanted more fruit flavor in them. My favorite was the green mint chocolate chunk, but there was so much chocolate and it was so thick that I was usually left with a mouthful of chunks and didn't get to taste the mint too much. Overall, the ice cream was just fine. I will say that I'm very disappointment from seeing how much negativity comes from the shop's responses to unfavorable reviews on here, I find it extremely unprofessional. *Edit* the owner saw fit to respond to my review with an essay on how my opinion is objectively wrong and nonsense, further proving my point of unprofessionalism. I definitely won't be giving this place my business, purely due to the sheer amount of narcicissm and personal attacks in their response. One star quality ownership.

Brooker’s Founding Flavors Ice Cream offers a unique and enjoyable experience, blending rich, inventive ice cream flavors with a charming colonial American theme. The staff, dressed in period attire, and the rustic decor create an immersive setting that adds to the fun. The ice cream itself is super-premium, with a dense and creamy texture. Flavors like Patrick Henry’s Give Me Chocolate or Give Me Death and John Adams’ Oh My Ooey Gooey Butter Cake are indulgent and packed with mix-ins. However, some visitors have noted that the mix-ins can be quite large, occasionally leading to uneven distribution in the scoops. One of the standout offerings is the Liberty Bell Challenge, a massive 13-scoop sundae served in a pewter bowl, topped with various sauces, whipped cream, and cherries. It’s a fun and shareable treat for groups and families. Overall, Brooker’s Founding Flavors Ice Cream is a delightful spot for those looking to enjoy high-quality ice cream in a setting that celebrates American history. Whether you’re a history enthusiast or simply seeking a delicious treat, it’s worth a visit.
