This place supposedly opened yesterday so it's pretty curious how many reviews it already has.
Anyhow, I'm really hoping the issues I mention bellow are just first day jitters and things will get better. I really wanted to be happy with this place.
I came in on their first day into the restaurant. People were crowded around the kiosks to make their orders. No other way to place your order it looks like. I don't like that at all.
You also don't go through a line and watch them make your food, they do it in little corner and you wait and see when your name comes up on a screen.
This store is pretty small, not that many places to sit. Was pretty crowded but there weren't that many people inside.
My payment failed on the kiosk because the technology was wonky. I was going to try a different kiosk when staff came around (which I really appreciated) and told people they were out of rice and it would be a half hour before more was made. I wanted something with rice, so I left.
That didn't bother me, tho I waited in line to use the kiosk, so wasted my lunch break. I know these kinds of things happen when a restaurant first opens. What made me write this review is my next experience.
I went through the drive thru the next day (today) and ordered the nachos with cheese, not queso, and the sweet pork. I order this often at other locations.
This was my first time using a drive thru at a Cafe Rio. It was pretty quick, which was great, but I think I prefer going in and seeing my food put together, like the Orem store has.
However, I was very disappointed with the food. The toppings were pretty scarce. There was hardly any cheese on it, there was very little pork, and there were far more chips than toppings. To add to this, the chips were waaaay too salty. Never had chips this salty at Cafe Rio.
The Orem store knows how to do the food correctly, so I will continue to go to them, even though that is farther away and there is no drive thru. I also didn't get a receipt so I can't earn points for my purchase.
I'm hoping things will change, I really want to like this location. However, I really don't like the trimmed down setup and having to use the kiosks to order if...
Read moreThis is no doubt the worst Cafe Rio location I’ve been to. Unfortunately it’s the one closest to my house, but I will now be door dashing from the Orem location instead because that’s how bad this one is. The Kiosk only ordering set up really encourages the employees to blatantly ignore anyone needing help. This last time I ordered my food online and it was supposed to be ready at 8:08pm so I was there at 8:05pm. I didn’t get my food until 8:38pm and it was even missing an item that took another 4 min to get their attention to fix. I tried getting their attention several times to ask about my order and they just ignored me as well as the other people merely waiting to ask for a water cup. They actually had my order on the TV marked as ready for an entire 15 min before they set it out on the shelves. It was literally sitting in a bag on the prep station just needing the sticker and to be put on the shelf, but for some reason the lady kept looking at it, reading the sticker, and then ignoring it and working on other orders. I wish this was a one-time thing, but this location consistently sucks and the employees don’t give a crap. If they were super busy then I would totally understand. However in the 37 total min I was standing there waiting, I only saw 3 cars go through the drive-thru and a total of maybe 7 orders on the screen in queue at peak. Like I said, this is not a one-time occurrence. Whether via DoorDash, the drive-thru or going in, I have ordered from this location for myself and/or family more than 20x this year alone, and literally every single time we are left disappointed due to horrific service or missing ingredients. I am very tolerant, so I keep giving them more chances, but this experience tonight was my breaking point, and I will warn everyone From this point forward to not order from this specific...
Read moreUsually, I wouldn't mind waiting a while in the drive-thru, having worked in fast food and understanding the occasional delays. However, my wife and I ended up waiting for 25 minutes for 2 salads, even though we were the only ones in line.
Aside from that, when we placed our food order through the microphone, we were told the total was $24.66. As we pulled up to the window, the person (not sure if it was a guy or girl) took my card to process the payment but returned it to me without providing a receipt. Usually, I wouldn’t mind not getting a receipt at a drive thru, but I received a bank notification saying I was charged $28.08, which is 15% more than what our total was supposed to be.
We waited around for about 20 minutes before finally receiving our food. Once it arrived, I asked for my receipt. The person who had taken my payment hesitantly handed over the receipt and promptly closed the window. Sure enough, they had added 15% in the “tip” section. We waited another 5 minutes for the person to return, it was clear they were stalling . Despite having about 3 cars waiting behind me, the cashier finally returned. I asked about the added tip, and after stumbling through their words trying to provide an excuse, I asked for a refund.
The person went to talk to their manager and when they returned they told me I could only refund $2. They didn't provide any explanation for the partial refund amount, nor were they willing to issue a cash refund or cooperate with me in any meaningful way. At this point, I was super frustrated. It wasn't just about the four bucks I lost or the long wait time; it was that they thought they could go behind my back after making my wife and I wait for 25 minutes and steal from me. This place is a...
