If you're from Jersey or NY you'd like this spot. It's just greasy enough to make you feel chunky, but it's very flavorful and has all the Staples. And service is quick.
I have to admit, I wasn't sure about this place based upon the fact that it looked like a hole in the wall and the reviews on Google were decent but the numbers were reliable. Well, I'm from Jersey and we have plenty of tasty Chinese food spots in crackhead neighborhoods, so I decided to be a little adventurous. The neighborhood actually isn't that bad, around the corner from a school and a little ways away from Vinnings. The guy inside was pretty nice. I don't know his name, but I think he is the owner. He greeted me warmly. His wife I think it was was a little standoffish, but that doesn't matter. What matters is that the lobby looks hit, but the food is legit.
I ordered a hot and sour soup, assuming I'd get moderate spice...but WHOA it was Jersey hot. Loved it. I have a cold, so I usually pair my soup with Shrimp Toast and I mentioned this, and that I wished they had shrimp toast so I could feel better.....well,.....guess who had shrimp toast????!?!?!!! Yaaaas. Wasn't even on the menu, but she was like I got you!!! 💃
My husband on the other hand is the queen of all basics. He likes wings, but not those little baby joints shot up with antibiotics that look like Cornish hens. He likes the old school wings that look like...well...wings. He wanted to go for lemon pepper, but he didn't want to be let down. So, he got just 8 wings for $5 nice price. I tried his wings, I was like they aight. He loved his wings though. Woke me up in the middle of the night like, these are good. We're going there again.
We used to eat at Lee's Golden Bhuddha or the buffet on Cobb Parkway but when they shut down, we stopped eating Chinese lol now we have a new spot ❤️
Service A- Appearance B+ Food A++
Side note: love the fried noodles...
Read moreI'm a Chinese person and I'd sum it up as: good enough to hit the spot when you need it👍. Obviously it's Americanized Chinese food all the way. But an actual Chinese guy was cooking each dish and it was open kitchen and looked clean! Chinese people were manning the desk.
I got the hot & sour soup, my litmus test. Too much cabbage that overcooks easily, imo. Need more mushrooms and bamboo shoots. Figured it's hard to mess up homestyle tofu--and I was pleasantly surprised--they did a pretty good job with that one. The tofu texture and size was perfect and the sauce was tasty & loaded with veggies. Looked pretty decently fresh tasted good 👍
I mean I'd go to Buhi if I could, but I'm kind of glad this place is actually OK--for an Asian place in Smyrna. I might likely go again and order the same , or dare to try something else. Tofu is safe, meat could be a diff ballgame. We shall see.
Ps. They are serving their own version of ramen which looks to be more like korean hangover soup, but hey it's an option. Looks comforting.
My only complaint is the store smelled like cigs, but I think it's more a problem of the patrons rather than the store itself.
Expect a 15min wait for each order.
I recommend this for the Asian who is too damn tired and hungry to drive to Doraville and just needs something asian that's "not bad". Just to set expectations.
Will update as I try...
Read moreWe’ve been going to this place for a while and never been disappointed until tonight. Ordered Hunan Triple and Garlic Chicken plus an order of crab rangoon and spring rolls. The apps were tasty, and the dishes were not bad but…
The food wasn’t hot like usual and I was there within 15 minutes of ordering The taste was a little off. The dishes were supposed to be spicy and were not. I’m not even sure I got what I ordered. At one point I thought I got a hint of barbecue sauce. The total came to $41 and change (I’m fine with this because I know costs are soaring but it didn’t match the price on the website) Hunan triple comes with shrimp, chicken, and beef and there were a total of 2 shrimp in the container. Come on.
We like this place and the people who work there, so I’ll be back again. I hope for a better experience. It’s the first time in years we’ve been...
