I enjoyed my visit at the new Hyderabadi Biryani restaurant. The inside is very interesting to look at with pretty walls and light fixtures. There were some softer, classic 90s Indian music on.
Service was nice, the host / waiter knew the menu well and what was inside of everything. He helped serve the food too, carefully with some gloves on. They take your order on a handheld and take your payment the same way. I wasn't able to see the itemized receipt, but the handheld prints a receipt out to add the tip on. I didn't get a copy of the receipt. Maybe they can configure the handheld to give me the option to show the itemized, select the tip, and text yourself a copy of the receipt.
The food all tasted good. They didn't have very many curries, but they had a wide selection of biryani. The ginger baby corn looked totally different from the photo on their website. It was tasty, but it didn't taste like ginger very much and it was breaded and fried. The boneless chicken in the gongura biryani was also breaded and fried. The biryani was very light and flavorful with spices. The rosemary naan was covered in rosemary, I was a little uncertain about it when I saw it, but it was actually very soft and easy to eat. The rosemary does get in your teeth though. Can't help that TBH.
Other than the differences in the baby corn dish, the menu also had a price error on the gongura boneless chicken, the menu said $12.99, but I was charged more than that. It shows $22.99 on their website.
The table I was initially seated at had the chairs out and hadn't been cleaned. I was seated at another table and that one too was a little sticky. I think the varnish on the table was the cause though.
Ultimately, flavorful food, although not the healthiest you can find. It's newly opened, small issues like I mentioned will be...
Read moreWith a name that promised an authentic Andhra culinary experience, my expectations were justifiably high. Unfortunately, the reality of my to-go order was a profound letdown. I selected the Gobi Manchurian and the Vijayawada Egg Biryani, hoping for a taste of genuine Andhra cuisine. The initial promise of a 20-25 minute wait stretched to a frustrating 40 minutes. While I acknowledge it was a busy Friday night and apologies were offered, this was just the beginning of my dissatisfaction.
The Gobi Manchurian was a far cry from what it should be; it was disappointingly mediocre. The cauliflower, the supposed star of the dish, was virtually undetectable, lost beneath an excessively thick coating of batter. Any hint of authentic spices was completely overpowered by an aggressive sweetness, seemingly from ketchup, which dominated the entire dish.
However, the true shock came with the Vijayawada Egg Biryani. This dish was a colossal disappointment and, frankly, an insult at its $18.99 price point. What I received was essentially plain, lightly flavored rice accompanied by a mere three half-pieces of egg. There was a glaring absence of the promised spices, no discernible vegetables, and absolutely nothing to justify its name or cost. It was bland, uninspired, and utterly devoid of character.
To say I was extremely disappointed would be an understatement. Based on this experience, I absolutely cannot recommend either the Gobi Manchurian or the Vijayawada Egg Biryani. This meal was a significant letdown from...
Read moreSuch an amazing spot, the flavors blew me away! This is the only Indian restaurant that I know of that has so much variety on the menu. Don’t expect “just” curries - there are biryanis, dosas, kebabs, and all sorts of other dishes beyond curry. Below are some of the foods we tried:
-Dum ka chicken - perfectly marinated and stewed curry. This was my favorite! I could just keep eating the sauce haha, so yummy. -Gobi Manchurian - deep fried cauliflower in a nice and spicy sauce. Loved this one! -Samosas - potatoes were so flavorful, you can dip with or without the sauce. Tasted amazing both ways! -Garlic naan - sooo much garlic (YES!) and not too buttery/oily. Chicken 65 - slightly crispy and spicy chicken. I can’t even describe the flavors well but it’s very delicious.
I forgot to take a pic of the goat biryanis but it was well seasoned and not dry at all. The goat was cooked well and not gamey. The rice was so fluffy and soft! For all the dishes with spiciness, you can indicate to the staff if you want a certain spice level. We opted for “medium”. It was just right for me but can be spicier for others.
I’m coming back again to try the dosa. They have a whole page with more than 10 or 15 variety! They also have a buffet during weekdays and weekends. I will come back for that too :)
Lovely staff and great hospitality! Thank you for such...
