The pros: The staff was really nice. The sesame chicken and teriyaki chicken sticks were good.
The cons: I was given the wrong kind of rice with my sesame chicken (I asked for white, got fried) which isn’t a big deal, but rather than rectifying the problem (they showed it to me, so they did know it happened) they just apologized and kept the wrong food. I could have made a huge huff about it, but that’s not me. I just think maybe adding a small white rice would have been the correct gesture.
I ordered their fried dumplings (they are deep fried, not pan fried for anyone wondering) and the menu online says it should come with 10. I received 8.
The wonton soup was so beyond bland, even a packet of soy sauce didn’t help. The wontons are maybe half a teaspoon of filling and the rest is just a huge wonton wrapper. You’re basically only eating noodle.
The teriyaki chicken is over $4 for TWO. It doesn’t specify that it’s on a stick, and the picture online is just a stock photo that does not show that, yet they do specify “steak on a stick” which is under $8, the better deal. Had I known, I would have gotten that.
The eggrolls were so oily. I don’t know if the oil wasn’t hot enough or what, but if you have to put a napkin into the bag you put the eggrolls in to catch some of that oil, you’re doing it wrong.
The inside of the restaurant was a mess, like it was a storage locker for all their junk.
Overall, will never order from here again, and if you actually enjoy your chinese food, I’d suggest doing the same. I only went here because the best place in the area is closed...
Read moreWell, decided to try Stir Fry yesterday after a long day of work so I googled a chinese restaurant next to my house in Kempsville. I was skeptical at first with the whole online ordering chinese thing but the website was very easy to navigate and just the fact I will not sound like an idiot trying to pronunciate some of the meals names... I was sold. Left work at the Naval Hospital in Portmouth and what a pleasure it was to arrive there and the food was ready waiting for me. It's a very simple place right next to Kroger but it was clean and the cashier was very nice! Got home with my food and another pleasant surprise. Items looked and tasted like I was eating at an eat in restaurant. Crab Wontons were crunchy and piping hot and the General Tso Chicken delicious! Very pleased with my overall experience and will...
Read morePlaced an order online through beyond menu. I really like that option. The Chicken Teriyaki on a stick is very good. I ordered the Kung Pao platter extra spicy. It was not even a little spicy. The description says "Baby shrimp & chicken w. carrots, celery, peppers, waterchestnuts, mushrooms, bamboo shoots, sauteed in hot & spicy sauce, topped w. peanuts." The shrimp were not baby shrimp. There were no water chestnuts or mushrooms. Seems like they just threw in a bunch of extra celery and hoped I wouldn't notice. Well, I did! I was very disappointed in this Chef's Specialtiy.
Update 23 Apr 21. I usually order the hot and sour soup. It’s never great but it’s tolerable. Tonight I thought I had come down with COVID because it had absolutely no taste! I know it’s not COVID because the Chicken Teriyaki was...
