Sugar Shack — Restaurant in Virginia Beach

Came here 2 weekends in a row and got the same barely can call it service. First weekend, I was certain they just couldn't see me. Between the family of 5 and the one person that came in AFTER me. I let it go. It was hot I was thirsty. No need to argue with kids on job skill. Got my order it was damn good.. new weekend same problem.. this time my associate was with me got my order. Iced coffee with lots of ice and a little flavor. My associate was ap. Nobody else in the store yet. He hadn't beeqn acknowledged asked how's it going, nothing. He his wallet out i got cashed out. By now there's a small group of young men from off the beach. The cashier that is doing nothing skips my friend and goes right to helping the group more her age. Needless to say my associate is pissed. Its hot we've been here for a while and he left empty hand. Quite pissed and I figured it should be spoke on. Ice-cream always hits the spot when visiting the beach in the summer on a hot day. This is a very tiny ice-cream shop. There's only one table inside, one table outside, and plenty of adirondack chairs to lounge on outside. Tho, there is no shade for the lounge chair area. There's very limited parking; one small parking lot for multiple businesses. There's plenty of unique flavors offered. I really loved the "roadrunner raspberry." They use wholesome ingredients. The pricing is reasonable. The one scoop option is very generous. The two young ladies working at the time were friendly, attentive, and patient. If hand dipped ice-cream is not your thing, there's other options such as shakes, sundaes, smoothies, or snowballs. They even cater to your furry pet with a "pup in a cup." As a VB local, this is my favorite spot to get ice cream! Lots of flavors and toppings, friendly staff, live music some nights, and a short walk to the beach. Ice cream on the beach just tastes better :D

In the summer the hours are pretty standard and you can plan ahead and go. But in the off season the hours change without notice so you may drive over and see a sign announcing it’s closed for the day or updating the hours again.
