I’d like to give this place more stars; but I can’t.
We came in with high expectations from having heard good things and seeing the great reviews on Google. We were in the area so we decided to give it a shot.
First impressions should have tipped us off. The staff at the hostess stand made eye contact with us as we entered, and then proceeded to not greet us or acknowledge our presence in any way. They were too busy joking with each other. Finally, a young lady with purple colored hair and a cheery personality walked up and helped us right away. So, kudos to her, she’s the only reason this review has more than one star.
The next thing we noticed is how excruciatingly loud it is inside. Unfortunately, we were there on a more-humid-than-normal summer day, so we were pretty much stuck eating inside. It appears as though some sound dampening has been installed in the rafters (I can’t imagine what it was like before those were put in,) but they are inadequate at best. A little more will go a long way and might prevent your staff (and patrons) from having to yell to each other during peak times.
The waitress very clearly did not want to be there on this particular day. It was like she was being bothered to have to take our order. The things she said were normal; but it was how they were said and the corresponding body language that told the entire story.
All that bitterness aside, the food was pretty good. Ordering a sandwich at a brunch place was probably not the wisest choice; it was on par with a lower end Jason’s Deli. The chicken and waffles were pretty bland overall, but the hash browns were good. We’ll pick something else next time.
In summary, while we aren’t local to this particular location (we live closer to the Haygood location and work near the one in Greenbrier,) this didn’t set a very good tone for the brand. Maybe we’ll give a different location a shot; but I doubt we’ll be coming back to this one. If we do, I’ll be sure to come back and update this review...
Read moreIf I could I would have left zero stars. To start we called to be put on the wait list. They stated they were on a 20 minute wait and we could only be put on the wait list online if we were within 5 miles of the restaurant and to reserve on resy.com. . When we were in that range we were not able to be added to the wait list on resy, as it said they were not taking reservations. We then called an explained the situation and that we were on our way and they told us we would have to wait until we got there in person to add to the wait list. When we got there we told them our situation and they told us sorry it's now a 45 minute wait. Half of the restaurant was empty but they said they were seating all the seats at that moment. We went to the bar to get a drink while we waited. We asked a server to order a drink after 10 minutes of waiting with no service and she asked the bar tender to take our order. The bar tender then rolled her eyes and said fine. We ordered our drinks with Tito's vodka and they up charged us $4 per drink.... We sat and drank our $18 drinks for 35 minutes at two empty bar seats. They still have not sat all the seats they originally said they were going to. We asked a hostess if we could just sit there at this point and they stated there "system was down" and can not seat anyone at this time. We went to the hostess stand after another 10 minutes to ask about the manual process to get people seated. They then stated that there kitchen was backed up and did not want to seat people if it would take an hour for there food to be brought out. They did not inform a single person of there "system being down" (which was a lie because they had the manual system capability) but tried to cover up the real problem of the kitchen not being adequately staffed and backed up. Overall this restaurant location and management was absolutely horrible and would not recommend it. The lack of communication took us from a 20 minute wait, to a 35 minute wait, to an hour and...
Read moreUpdate: While I appreciate your response, I stand by my review of your establishment on General Booth Blvd. My review was not based on any outside influence other than my own experience. I do recognize, that as someone who has worked in the service industry in the past, reviews are important in informing future patrons of what they can expect. This is my true and honest review. While the food is extremely picturesque. The quality does not lend to the cost that you are paying. Based on other reviews, it appears I'm not the only customer that has stated the same; that the quality and price do not equate. To assume my opinion is not my own based off a disgruntled employee, while other reviews state similar is very telling. If leadership and/or management wish to disregard my review that is your right. However, I will continue to standby my review and my experience.
I went there when my kids and I were on vacation. It was recommended. The female server we had was extremely kind and attentive, but I was disappointed with the food. For the hype it was underwhelming. I love a picturesque plate of food, but it seemed they cared more about the presentation than the quality of the food. So just know the price is more based on presentation than on the quality. 2 stars for atmosphere, the colors are dated and basic. The signs that list the specials is more vibrant and eye catching than the...
