I decided to visit on a Sunday to enjoy a warm weather evening at the open bar with which I am familiar. The lone barkeep (Lauren) greeted me and asked my name within a minute and just afterwards I had a menu. After perusing the choices I decided on a leisurely meal that started with a mojito, kale Caesar salad, and bread basket, continued with a double entree of fish fingers followed by salmon with a couple of side substitutions, and finished with the chocolate waffle dessert. Pacing of each dish felt well controlled, as Lauren kept regular contact with me and other customers during my time. Service by the runners was quite prompt and cordial throughout. My drink had nice balance and taste. The salad felt a touch overdressed, even if the crisp croutons, sharp flavors, and overall portion were both reassuring. Bread was thankfully as I remember with rolls appropriately warm. Fish fingers had a warm, crunchy texture and soft almost melt-in-your-mouth fish. Fries were likewise warm and crispy for a sweet potato variety. The cole slaw garnish had uniform cut cabbage and fresh taste, even if again I could do with a little less dressing. I asked for salmon rare with broccolini and the corn/cucumber/tomato salad subbed for the cauliflower mash. Fish temperature appeared to be basically rare as asked and thus retained the satisfying flavor I expected. The broccolini was cooked well for the most part and accompanied but not covered in cheese. The salad tasted light and fresh as desired. Finally, the chocolate waffle had a decidedly chocolate flavor coming through a restrained portion I welcomed to avoid overindulging. The ice cream held its shape while I was eating, although this was one dish that made me wonder whether it had sat for a few minutes before being delivered since a little of the ice cream had already melted. No matter though, as finishing posed no troubles at all. The total bill with tax came to just under $70 which with the prices of today did not seem unreasonable. An eating event here might not qualify as a value pick or not-a-value pick from my perspective. For a stop while in the area or a pre- or post-movie lunch or dinner, these offerings easily and reliably satisfy with a truly casual atmosphere, professional staff, and well cooked food overall.

Husband and I had a dinner at the Coastal Flats on Easter Sunday for the first time. What a great place to eat. The restaurant was quickly packed but we were able to get a seat within minutes. We started with 'Crab Loui' as an appetizer. Very delicious with first layer of chopped lettuce, avocado and then the crab, amazing flavor and presentation too, with enough chips to finish dipping/eating the bowl. It's the perfect amount of spread and chips to finish, unlike many appetizers that short you on chips/bread/crackers in other places. I had the 'Mango Chicken & Spiced Pecan Salad'. It's a combination of mixed greens, grapes, toasted almonds, mint & sund dried cranberries with ginger vinaigrette. Very taste and light perfect amount of everything. The food came out in timely fashion and our waitress Isabella was very attentive. Husband ate the 'Sesame Crusted Grilled Tuna Salad'. Drizzled with cilantro ginger sauce, thin beans, Kalamata olives & grape tomatoes over field field with greens and champagne vinaigrette. He enjoyed his meal in part - for the price the dish should have had more tuna, not only four slices. I don't recommend it to someone who is used to eating large meals. The same goes for my dish: it had a few pieces of chicken slices hidden under a bed of salad. The flavor and presentation are great for an American style restaurant. Also the atmosphere is great with a beautiful coastal interior and mural painted walls, spacious & comfortable booths. The music was moderate, but noise starts to compound as the room fills up with patrons. Staff are friendly, courteous and professional wearing clean service attire. For the price portions should be more generous. Star Ratings: Food: based on quality, portions 🆚 price Atmosphere: based on ambiance and cleaning 🆚 noise

I usually get photos of everything prior but I was so hungry that I forgot to snap my appetizers! However, I captured the aftermath which confirms how hungry I was! From entry to exiting, the staff were friendly and on point with the overall service. I had the below for appetizers. Spinach dip was fresh and good but I prefer Costco spinach dip more. Blue crab and shrimp fritters were delicious! Lobster bisque was good but I have had better. I think it was the consistency and the color that was off for me but I still ate it 😝 Now, the main reason for the 5 stars was the Drunken Ribeye! Y’all this is the best steak I’ve had so far. It’s super juicy, flavorful, tender and even gives you a guide on the menu on how your steak will come out. I had my steak cooked medium but highly recommend getting medium rare or medium. Anything cooked longer may not be as juicy or tender. Note-the ribeye is bigger than it looks just bad angle. Broccolini was very good but would’ve like a little more. Sweet potato fries were crisp and yummy! Mashed potatoes very creamy and seasoned to perfection! Salmon and spinach was flavorful and delicious. Unfortunately, I didn’t get dessert because I was so stuffed! The restaurant is booth only that I saw inside and very low lighting which was nice. Overall, the establishment is very clean and has an open kitchen area where the staff hang out. They do have a patio but I think it was closed during my visit. Update-I ate my leftover ribeye and it was still juicy, flavorful and tender the next day.

We had the opportunity to eat on the patio which was beautiful as the temperature was 75 degrees and the overhead fans were running, which made it very comfortable. However if you were with someone who tends to be cool then a light covering would be ideal. We started our with drinks including sangria, as well as classic and mango mojitos all of which were enjoyable . As for appetizers we enjoyed Caesar and chop salads both of which were tasty and good choices. In addition the table rolls were warm, fresh and flavorful. The main courses were hickory grilled chicken with angel hair pasta that was tender and tasty. The fish tacos were also good with a very tasty sauce and excellent sweet potato fries. The last and not least choice was beef ribs, which were meaty with a sweet barbecue sauce. The only critique was the ribs were slightly overcooked. The two deserts tried were flourless chocolate waffle with ice cream and toasted almonds. This desert was excellent and also gluten free. The other desert was a strawberry cheesecake which was also good. The service was excellent and our server was friendly and attentive and made good food suggestions. All in all a very pleasant evening with good food and worth future visits. While a chain restaurant, the food was consistent and good quality. s

Great food and ambiance. The shrimp cocktail is really good. The crab cake sandwich has little filler and is delicious. The chicken havarti Sandwich is awesome and tasty. Margarita is always perfect. The sea bass is nice, the taste is a little too sweet for my liking. The two noodle salad is a great addition to the menu. It's an Asian salad. It has some flavored noodles underneath tossed greens with crunchy little bits of fried wonton tossed with fried battered shrimps. The tangy, ginger flavor really brings everything together nicely in this salad. It comes with additional dressing on the side but I would never use it because it is already tossed in the dressing and adding it would make it to salty. We came back today and had the fish of the day which is a red snapper on top of orzo and the taste of the grilled fish was as though it was fresh off the grill. It was seasoned with very fresh lime juice and delicious. We also have the deviled eggs and crab cake sliders which were delicious. We also love the ceviche which had bits of mango as well as tomatoes and onions. It is super delicious served with crackers. You can't go wrong with Great American Restaurant group. Their food is always the best in NOVA.
