This is my go-to spot for meeting or doing office work away from home. I appreciate the space they have, and I can always find an empty table to set up and stay for a couple of hours uninterrupted, which a lot of people do. I always get their crazlenut latte, which I think is pretty great, and they have a lot of unique lattes. But their menu is very expensive. Youâll spend $8 on a coffee and then if you want food, youâre automatically in the $20s. When it comes to their food, itâs very much just a cafe, not a restaurant, and I would say everything is overpriced. And they do have a couple good sandwiches, but man it just hurts to order them.
The music they play is not coffee shop music, and more and more theyâre starting to play songs that donât create a very relaxing environment (a lot of punk rock) and will make you put your headphones in and turn the volume up. The staff is almost entirely girls in the 20s, and the music seems to reflect what they enjoy. The shop as a whole is a bit of a punk vibe, and is very liberal. It used to be very plain and satisfyingly minimalistic, but over the years theyâve added a lot, and itâs a bit too much at this point - a ton of small, cheap, handmade decorations too. Thereâs also a lot of plants, and photography for sale on the wall that is outrageously priced (normal coffee shop things). The environment and decorations are changing and updating a lot, so in 6 months it will definitely be a different look. There is no dress code for the employees either, which can be off putting when one of them brings you your food from the back sometimes wearing very loud clothes, and having nothing distinctive on to show that they work there. But they do have good service. I once ordered a sandwich (came to $15 by itself) and they made a small mistake in my order and ended up fully refunding me, which was unnecessary but I really appreciated it, and and they still served me the sandwich.
They are efficient and consistent in their service, and most customers keep to themselves and are working. So I appreciate Cure, but definitely wish some things...
Read moreWe came to this spot specifically and exclusively because I noticed most reviews show the espresso drinks and lattes served in ceramic cups (I'm tired personally of starbucks, dunkin and other takeout coffee places, and even of local places who only have takeout cups) lo and behold I get my coffee in a takeout cup for seemingly no reason (3 other customers that were there at the same time had ceramic cups?) I wondered if it might have been because I went there at 6 when they closed at 7 or if the specific drink I got wasn't served that way but honestly I have no idea.
We tried some of the baked goods (the double chocolate muffin and molasses cookie) which were fantastic. I tried the Mexi Mocha which I did not expect would be as spicy as it was. I did get warned that it would have cayenne pepper, which I expected it to be maybe a sprinkle on top of a rich mocha however it was more like infused in the entire drink to the point where it was more than just a kick and actually really spicy to the point where the chocolate flavor was barely there and the coffee flavor was actually non existent. I can't really see anyone enjoying the mexi-mocha, not even a spicy food lover or even for a gimmick. (I would expect a product called mexi-mocha to be something more along the lines of a traditional Ibarra cocoa flavor, with anise, nutmeg cinnamon etc but I was warned of the cayenne so my bad) Overall in summary I would not reccommend the mexi-mocha hot drink and would really appreciate a "for here or to go?" question when ordering so that it is not simply assumed that I want a...
Read moreOverall, a great place in City Center. My friend and I walked in and were greeted by the cashier. She let us take our time and we asked her opinions on the lavendar latte and the vanilla haze.
She said the lavendar is great if you do like lavendar, so we were expecting the lavendar to be a little strong. It was pretty light, pretty balanced, but I didn't think it was overwhelming at all, and neither did my friend. She said the vanilla haze, which is a vanilla hazelnut, was pretty close to a french vanilla. It was really good but I think I wanted the vanilla flavor to be a little bolder. We got both coffees iced.
We both ordered the southwest breakfast sandwich. I got light aioli, and it was just amazing! Both the coffee and the sandwiches came out within 10 minutes, which was incredible. We were there around 2pm to 5pm on a Monday, so it never got busy. The table we sat at outside was in the shade, so it was just a lovely lunch!
I would recommend this place for sure. It was around $37 before tip for two medium coffees and two sandwiches, and I feel like the quality and ambiance matched the price. Maybe add a half pump extra if you like bolder or more vibrant flavors, but the coffee itself was stellar, not too sweet, not too bitter, and they have milk substitutues, oat and almond! Plenty of indoor seating, a few outdoor tables, has two single person gendered bathrooms, one for each, and City Center has a free parking garage!...
