TASTE — Restaurant in Virginia

Taste has gone downhill. I have ate there a long time but also had the awful experience of taking a little part time job during the pandemic. I wasn’t working there for the money but it allowed me to see how poorly run it is, especially on the management side, who are grumpy, in my experience Karla and especially Crystal. I loved my co workers and enjoyed my discount but the sandwiches are about 11.99 for something half average. And that’s what it is, average at best. Bring back the cheese shop in hidenwood, this place isn’t it anymore. They act like they can do no wrong. I was let go over not being able to answer to my shift due to being pulled over. It worked out, I gamble on myself and I now work somewhere else enjoyable and get paid well to do it. Management is respectful. I will never go back, and I will share these experiences with my family who have deep ties to the community. A lot of us have just stopped eating with y’all. I personally knew most of their “regulars” from the community. I even reached out politely to Hr with no response. This was my 2nd time getting a sandwich at Taste here in Newport News... They have the best food the best sandwiches I have ever had they make their own everything the croissant the butter croissant is fabulous and I had an egg salad sandwich custom ordered online got it it was wonderful and today I had the curry chicken on they butter croissant as well and it was fabulous and that I got myself some ice cream afterwards that they must make it there and it was its terrific everything is good the cookies the brownies I don't drink wine so I can tell you about that but they have a lot of different stuff and it was just good the place is clean clean clean clean and that means everything to me and everybody was just so nice so because I live on the West Coast and this is on the East Coast as far away as you can get I am going to have to just jaunt over here for lunch sometime but I won't drive this time the next time this time I drove but next time I'll fly in and have lunch .... For sure! Highly recommended to anybody if you want the best place to eat in Newport News...

I've been to two TASTE locations , this is the second one I’ve been to, and the second time I've been a patron overall. I came here to meet a coworker for lunch and being that I’m pregnant, I had to use the bathroom first. When I came out of the women's stall, I noticed there was a female worker in the bathroom with me who was changing out the trash bags, waste disposables, and toilet paper. When she did all of this, I was washing my hands and noticed she had on blue gloves. She did not dispose of her gloves into the trash receptacle right next to the sink, but instead walked out of the bathroom. I followed behind her after quickly drying my hands and saw her using the same gloves she used in the bathroom to clean off the tables nearest to the restroom. I then watched her go to the napkin station to replenish items there. she never changed her gloves, which really freaked me out! The idea of urine/feces bacteria on a table Im eating on was too unsanitary for me to order food here. The food was good the one time I had it in Suffolk, but that’s not worth...
