Located on Southpoint across from Walmart, Dickie's Barbecue Pit is a haven for meat lovers seeking a delicious alternative to grilling and smoking their own meat. Having discovered Dickie's a few years ago in Dahlgren, Va, I was thrilled to find that their food in Fredericksburg remains consistently great.
I decided to try out Dickie's on Labor Day, and it turned out to be an excellent decision. Despite the restaurant bustling with customers, the staff managed to be incredibly kind and attentive. Their dedication to providing a pleasant experience was evident from the start.
Now, let's talk about the star of the show—the ribs. These tender and juicy ribs are perfection on a plate. The rub blend they use, combined with just the right amount of smokiness, creates a mouthwatering experience. While I personally prefer some vinegar-based Carolina sauce on my ribs, they are so flavorful on their own that they don't even need any sauce.
Moving on to the brisket, I must say it is a treat for the taste buds. The meat is perfectly smoked and bursting with flavor. For those like me who enjoy a bit of fat trimming, Dickie's offers the option to have the brisket served with just a tad of fat. It adds an extra layer of richness to an already fantastic dish.
If you're a fan of wings, you won't be disappointed. The smoked wings at Dickie's are a hit and require no sauce. The smoky flavor permeates the crispy exterior, creating a delightful combination of tenderness and smokiness that will have you reaching for more.
Now, let's not forget about the sides. The potato salad and baked beans are my personal favorites. I also enjoy the creamed spinach and green beans. The potato salad is creamy and perfectly seasoned, while the baked beans are rich and flavorful. These sides complement the meats beautifully, rounding out the meal with delicious and satisfying accompaniments. I should also mention that there is ample seating inside the restaurant if you choose to dine in.
Overall, my experience with Dickie's Barbecue Pit was exceptional. From the moment I placed my take-out order to the moment I indulged in their delectable offerings, I was thoroughly impressed. The staff's kindness and attentiveness, combined with the outstanding quality of the food, make Dickie's a standout establishment in the barbecue scene. Whether you're dining in or taking out, Dickie's is a must-visit for barbecue lovers in Fredericksburg and beyond. #barbecue #ribs #chicken #brisket #smokedmeat #pulledpork #chickenwings #atthetablewithluefras #luefrasreviews #diningout #takeout #foodie #goodfood #fxbgva #fredericksburgva #dmvrestaurants #goodbbq #bbq...
Read moreWe have visited over 100 barbecue joints across the country in this dickey’s barbecue pit location among the worst we have experienced. While, the food is reasonably priced, The value for your money is very low as the food quality and serving size is very poor. The barbecue has very little flavor and is low quality meat. What we ordered: two meat platter with “brisket”, sausage, and okra, and Mac and cheese. Pulled pork sandwich Pulled pork: lacked all flavor and was quite watery. Brisket: of all the meats the brisket had the most flavor; however, the serving portion was very small with two small slices of brisket, counting as a meat. Even worse, the brisket crawl was very low as the brisket was very fatty. Jalapeño cheddar sausage: in line with the rest of the meets, this was very low quality sausage. The texture was very grainy and it disintegrated in your mouth. Well, the jalapeño cheddar flavor was quite good. The sausage had a strange wacky, shimmer, and green brown discoloration Okra: the okra was the star of the visit, well fried and a generous serving Mac & cheese: the mac & cheese was very low quality, grainy, and artificial. It tasted like very low and cafeteria style mac & cheese and I would not recommend. Soft drinks: the majority of the soft drinks were out of syrup and the few that worked had very light syrup applied. Service and atmosphere: the restaurant itself looks very nice and clean however, when you’re checking out and waiting for your food, you get a glimpse behind the counter and you can see the “kitchen” And serving area. It appears many of the spices and toppings are great value brand Overall: I cannot recommend visiting here. It is well worth a couple extra dollars for a much higher quality...
Read moreI come from 12 yrs in Central Texas and I know really incredible Barbeque. So I'm a hard sell. Of all the local Fredericksburg area Barbeque eateries, this is the only one I'd recommend and feel worthy of being called real barbeque. Its about the meat & the smoke that's what makes it real barbecue. Sauce is only a condiment to accentuate what's already there otherwise you just have BBQ and it's so not same thing. That said, found the pulled pork moist with a light smoke, I'd prefer a tad more smoke, the spicy sauce is ideal compliment. The smoked sausage is the star of their line up, great flavor, I'd recommend the original or spicy sauce. Brisket is always the hardest to get right, and it's what sets good apart from great barbecue. The brisket here is light smoke, it just too overdone too enjoy sliced as it fell apart immediately, great brisket has more smoke and slices are moist & have just slightest pull to them. The ribs have a nice rub and again light smoke, fell off the bone, could be a meatier rib. Not a fan of the sweet sauce it's just too much so overpowers anything you add it too. Overall 4stars for the area, and for understanding the difference between real barbecue & BBQ. It's all about the meat if you get that wrong it just ain't...
