HOTEL HELL checked in early afternoon and put my luggage in room 107 and left to enjoy the day. Returning in the evening after 8 and the television was not working correctly. I went to the front desk and the clerk was very helpful in trying to resolve the issue. Which she could not so we went back to the front desk and I was transferred to room 111. I went back to rm 107 and got my luggage and went to RM 111 that had a sour smell. Went back to front desk and the clerk accompanied me back to the RM 111 and realized the smell. We went back to the front desk again and was placed transferred to RM 511. I showered and slept. At about 11pm went to use the bathroom and the lid of the toilet was stained yellow so I did pee in the shower and flushed the tissue in the toilet and then the toilet would not stop running water in tank. I called the front desk but once the clerk answered we could not hear each other. Phone didn't work. Put the pillow over my head and closed the bathroom door because the running water was disturbing. After 9am got dressed and went to front desk to file my complaint with manager and assistant manager and the internal fixture of toilet was replaced and so was the toilet seat and was informed that I would get a room adjustment and able to checkout later at 4pm.THANKFUL. By that time it was 4pm check out but was to tired and sleepy. So I requested another day so just to sleep. I am BLESSED to be 62 years old and after the ordeal I got a price adjustment for $20.00. Read moreI used the IHG app to make a reservation at this location for a King room. Upon arrival, the receptionist was pleasant but appeared to be uninterested in working. She handed me the envelope with 2 keycards and a handwritten note with the room number of 2029 stating the room is on the 2nd floor. I didn't pay attention to the room number until in the elevator and upon exiting on the 2nd floor, I noticed there were no 4 digit room numbers so I went back down and she indicated the 9 was some way of indicating that the door handle must be lifted rather than rotated downward. Again, she seemed uninterested in being personable. After going back up and entering room 202, I discovered that there were 2 twin beds. I checked my reservation in the IHG app and while it did not actually say it was a King in the reservation, it was priced at the King rate which I reconfirmed in the app. I went back down again, and asked the receptionist about the reservation being for a King and she replied that it was for 2 twins. I asked her to check the rate and she replied with the rate, I don't remember what she said, but it was lower than what my reservation showed for the King. She also advised that she did not have any King's available, even though the app reported that there was currently 2 King's available. Very disappointing. I'm not sure if this was an IHG app problem or a receptionist problem but I would never stay at this location again. Read moreThe previous night I stayed at a Holiday Inn express in South Carolina, and my experience was wonderful. So I chose HI Express again. This Holiday Inn Express was dismal. It started out that my key stopped working after I had checked into my room. That was simply annoying and an easy fix. Then my toilet backed up. I tried to call the front desk, but the phone didn’t work. I went to the front desk and told them about the toilet and the phone and their solution was to hand me a plunger and said, return it when you’re done with it and we know the phone doesn’t work. I did my own plunging and couldn’t get the toilet unstuck. I returned the plunger and told them it wasn’t fixed and the clerk told me she would give me another room. So I had to move. However, she told me that my room was an upgrade but she wouldn’t charge me this time. Really? You think you get to charge me? And, I t’s an upgrade to have a room with a flushing toilet? The breakfast in the morning was terrible. The food was all picked over and there was no coffee. I waited to see if it was being resolved, but there was no hope to be found. And to top it off, my key stopped working again. The night clerk told she had a list of rooms that the locks did not work right. When I checked out, the clerk asked if my stay was ok? I told him no.
