Let me start by saying when EB does it right, oh boy do they do it right. The bagels are actually quiet tasty, the coffee is enjoyable and the atmosphere is pleasant. the schmears are delightful and there is a wide variety of sandwiches you can get for breakfast or lunch. The place has always been hit or miss, but now its seems like "miss" is standard MO.
The most obvious: they always run out of bagels. yes a bagel shop that runs out of bagels. Too many times have i gone in only to be told the kind of bagel i want it is out. Usually have to settle with some bland or weird kind of bagel. Im not picky and usually just deal with it, but it happens often enough its worth mentioning. perhaps make less of the less popular bagels and more of the popular ones?
The bagels are never consistent. For example, i order the nova lox frequently; but i find that they use the capers not as a seasoning, but a main ingredient. So, i have to spend time brushing them off, risk biting into a pile of salt. Theres enough capers to put on 2 or even 3 other sandwiches. Sometimes i get a healthy slice of salmon, sometimes its a tiny sliver. Sometimes their is only a single ring of onion, sometimes its many. point being: inconsistent.
Want it toasted? Unless you want risk getting it luke warm, make sure you emphasize it to the point of the cashiers annoyance.
Want Coffee? cross your fingers and hope someones bothered to fill up the canisters. Probably best to check them before you get in line to place your order to save yourself from the disappointment of watching 2 lonely drops fall into your empty cup.
Manage to get the coffee but dont drink it black? cross your fingers and hope someones bothered to fill up the milk and cream. Ive seen the sugar become incredibly low a few times but never had to deal with it running out.
Tables are never wiped down. I understand if things are busy you cant expect people to wipe tables down constantly, but i cant remember i time i didnt have to dampen a napkin to wipe my own table down because its littered with oil, coffee or crumbs.
The same could be said about the floors.
Up until about a month ago, it used to take ages for your bagel to get ready. Employees would be giggling with each other on the line while 5 tickets on their screen are blinking red. This hasnt happened recently (i see new people i havnt recognized before) but its still fresh in my mind.

Read moreI had a very bad experience , very weak customer service, and a rude and arrogant cashier/store assistant. I went there and ordered 2 sandwiches on May 21, 12:26 pm, order 289. The store was not crowded that time, only me and another customer. I got my ordersl, got back, and then noticed I received a totally wrong order, plus I had asked for avocado,( and paid for that avocado), but no avocado was in my sandwiches.
So I headed back (already lost my whole lunch time) I asked to replace my sandwiches, and why they are wrong. The woman over there said you should check your order on the screen! I said how should I know what is inside???? By looking on the screen??
I asked for the store manager, she said she is the manager in charge. Though after a few minutes she said she is only a store assistant!!!! And I have to back tomorrow to talk to manager, or get my correct order!!!! The worst thing though, I understand mistakes may happen, it is ok to me, but I haven't heard anything like" sorry" " apologies" , which made me really disappointed . I came this morning to get a box of dozen bagels and cheese cream. The attendant who took my order, (who i found out later was the manager, Confort) was in a very bad mood. I gave her the menu with my choices of flavors and asked them to be sliced, she looked at me as I was doing something very wrong. She start filling up the bag with a random bagels. I asked nicely to please review my list and she said it was early for her to be given hard time and I was ruining her whole day.. she kept on saying a sort of things that start getting me frustrated. I ask for the manager and she said she was the manager and I had no more choice to take the bag as it was or get nothing.
