We decided to go out for a big lunch. After our last attempt at a Mexican restaurant near us we were hoping for better food. El Agave was far superior than the last place.

It was a Sunday afternoon so the place wasn't crowded. We were sitted quickly. In short order we placed drink orders and were brought chips and a spicy salsa for dipping. The chips were fresh, thick and crispy. The salsa had a little heat and (to me) a nice flavor. My wife was less ecstatic about the salsa but didn't want to ask if there was another option.

We placed our order - chile rellenos for her, poblano mole for me. The food took long enough to arrive for us to mostly finish the basket of chips.

The food arrived and the portions were substantial. The rellenos were nicely cooked and stuffed substantially. The mole chicken portion was large and included guacamole & chopped lettuce and tomatoes. The guacamole was good but a little under seasoned for me. The mole was flavorful with a smokey taste and a hint of coffee - it definitely wasn't sweet which I dislike. The only issue I had was the chicken was quite dry and the mole couldn't hide that.

Getting ready to leave took a little longer than getting seated. We needed 2 to-go boxes and the check. Our server just didn't seem to be around and there were only a few other tables with customers. My wife finally got her attention and finishing up from there was quick.

We'll definitely go back the next time we're in the mood for a Mexican...

This has been our go to place since we moved into the area, however the last 2-3 times we have dined here we have been extremely disappointed in the service. In our most recent visit we were told there was no seating available for our group, and that there would be a 10min wait. Okay, no problem there. 20min passes and we still have not been seated. I ask how much longer and I was told that our table had been available but they had not communicated that to us yet. Once seated no one came to take our drink orders. We had to flag someone down. Then we never received our drinks. I had to go up to the bar and ask for them in which I got “oh yeah! I’ll get them.” As if they forgot. To top it all off we were then told that chips and salsa were no longer complimentary past 1 cup/basket. We were a group of 6 and told we had to pay for more salsa so everyone could have some. We were shocked, when asked when that started I was told the beginning of the year. I know this was untrue since we had dined there before and never been charged for chips and salsa. Our frozen margaritas were Melted, we waited for our food for 30min once ordered, and it was impossible to ask for anything since there was never a waiter/waitress around to flag down. On the bright side the food was (as always) great. That being said we will still dine here, but NOT at this location. The service is extremely poor...

I stopped in Sunday night for the first time as I don't live in the area but I'm house sitting for my daughter and I had a couple of beers and it seemed like a nice tiny little bar where I can meet some nice people. On the wall behind the bar is a big sign that says happy hour Monday and Tuesday. $3.75 for large draft beers! Now granted it is printed on a Budweiser background but it does not differentiate between the beers that are on draft. So I go in tonight and I buy four large drafts of Dos Equis. I'm expecting a $14 bill but I get a $23 Bill instead. When I asked why the discrepancy I was told "Oh well... Dos Equis is not part of the happy hour!" I pointed to the sign behind the bar and said "It doesn't say that it's not part of the happy hour!" She said "It says so over there! Around the corner, on a half-wall almost at the floor level only partially visible from the bar, there was a sign. I'm thinking to myself: "Are you f** kidding me?" So I paid my $23 Tab and left no tip and I will never come back to that restaurant again. And I hope that anybody who reads this that lives in the Bealeton area will boycott this place because that is just outright wrong the way they handled that! I didn't even get an "I'm sorry for the miscommunication." Or "Next time you come in I will make it up to you..." Nothing... So they will get nothing from me except a...

Hsving been in the service industry a long time, there are certain things that should be expected, as they are universal; The good - Unexpectedly tasty mexican in the area. Food was really good, and portions were of considerable size, and not too pricey for what you get. Service is freindly. Drinks were good & stiff, could taste the tequila and not just the mix. The meh - fairly long wait time on drinks, food and check. So much so on the latter that i just paid cash as it wasnt worth the extra time to pay via card. The bad - got my drink order wrong the 1st time, asked for no beans on the meal and still had beans (no biggie, but its the principal), although service was freindly, they obviously operate in a bit of a rush to usher folks out. I noticed a few tables that when asked for the check, it was just kindof dropped on the table in passing. Doesnt reflect well on servers. I had my card in hand and had server waited 2 seconds, probably wouldve recieved larger tip. But again, i wasnt willing to wait any longer as between asking for check and recieving it, i finished a freshly poured large drink. I'd go back because of the food, but expectations of quality of service are slim. Im curious if it has to do with size of party as i was alone. Regarless, servers should treat single diners with the same attention as lsrger parties.

Bealeton El Agave has been my favorite place to eat since they opened but recently Ive noticed things have changed. In September I phoned in an order and picked it up on my way home. After I had taken a bite or two I noticed a dead cockroach in my food! I immediately called the restaurant. The woman who answered was duly concerned when I told her what happened and she gave me her personal phone number so I could send photos. She forwarded them to her manager who was not on site at the time. I attempted to contact him on a couple of occasions but he was never there. He also made no attempt to reach out to me to rectify this disgusting situation or compensate me. I will not be dining there again and I strongly urge you to avoid Bealton El Agave as well. The place has roaches and the manager doesn’t care about his customers.

Tonight was not their night. Taco Salad with grilled chicken in the Taco Bowl. Once received the bottom of the taco bowl was filled with “refried beans” that looked like mush gravy, topped with shredded lettuce, cheese, and chicken. As soon as I took the first bite I was disappointed and told the server that it was a hot mess. She didn’t apologize, try to correct the order, or offer an alternative. She just said next time maybe get the black beans. The items were drowning in mush gravy. Totally disappointed and disgusted by my food. Asked for a box to take home and feed the animals outside. Yes I paid full price for the food and tipped as I was once in the food industry. Just plain disgusting!
