The best thing I can say about this place is the food did not make me sick. I'm actually surprised by that as I'm fairly certain the food they served me was several days old. The fiasco of choosing this place to eat started by the good reviews I read. I'm guessing they must have been added by the owner. The soda my wife ordered came from a fountain drink machine and the mix was off. After she informed the waitress, a bitter old Asian woman, she informed her she knew the machine was not working right. Begs the question of why one would serve it then... She ordered a sweat tea which was fine. We placed a standard order for hibachi steak and chicken. My order came out first and the steak I had ordered was medium rare. The waitress sat it down in front of me and said here is the medium rare steak which was clearly well done. I didn't say anything as we had already had a confrontation about the drink. When I tasted the steak, it tasted like it was borderline bad--as in spoiled. Again, I should have said something, but chose not to as things were already tense. Once dipped in the yum-yum sauce you couldn't really tell how bad the taste was. After at least 5 minutes my wife's chicken finally arrived. The chicken was steaming hot, but her rice was cold--as in cold out of the fridge cold. She tried the get the waitresses attention and the waitress completely ignored her attempts. The restaurant was not busy and it's a small place. Several other family members--employees--were sitting around and ignoring her as well. Finally when the waitress comes she informs her, her food is cold. The waitress argued with her that it couldn't be because it was all prepared on the grill at the same time. She called the cook over and he agreed to do something about it. I finished my meal and hers was still not out of the kitchen. When the waitress came over to pick up my empty plate I asked about my wife's food and was informed they were not bringing...
Read moreFirst time I came here, didn’t realize it’s in a strip mall. Don’t let the “hole in the wall” feel scare you, it’s one of the BEST sushi I’ve had. There was a place in Kennesaw, GA I frequented called Kuroshio that in my college days that I had not been able to replicate (10 years ago!) and this place is as close as it gets. Sushi is reasonably priced, I’ve done both dine in and take out. The service has always been stellar. If you don’t mind the kind of simple layout, the dining area is pretty unremarkable, however all this is trumped by how good the food is. I did the Alaskan roll, eel roll, spicy tuna, and miso soup. The rolls are not huge however you don’t need huge rolls to enjoy the flavor. The fish is soft and not chew, and best of all you don’t get that strong “fish” flavor some other places have. They also don’t douse the rolls in sauce which I love, so you can get a nice flavor mix. I rarely write long reviews but give this place a shot, carry out has always been consistent and on par...
Read moreKabuto delivers an authentic and delicious sushi experience. I have not tried the teppanyaki, so this review covers sushi/sashimi only. First, the menu offers a wide variety of options, including uni, aji, toro (in season), live scallop and all the traditional selections, including octopus, ikura, hamachi and much, much more — plus a huge variety of rolls. The quality of the fish is outstanding. Second, the pieces are perfectly sized — not the ridiculously huge slabs that sushi ignoramuses seem to prefer. (Sushi is meant to be bite-sized, it's not like eating a steak.) Third, the service here is truly gracious, whether you are eating in or taking out. Fourth, I applaud Kabuto for not selling out to the online delivery services, which take all the profits and disappoint customers and businesses alike. This is sushi as it was meant to be, and the same quality of service you would find in a fine sushi restaurant in...
