Very disappointed with my experience at the Krispy Kreme location in Charlottesville (5/1/22). It literally looked like a bunch of teenagers were running the place, I couldn't identify who the manager/supervisor was. What my boyfriend and I were most disappointed by was the conveyor belt/frying machine. I don't get how other people look through the glass and not have a strong feeling about how disgusting it looks. It was so obvious they do NOT clean the machines and the floor. Very surprised considering that the machines are on full display. The amount of GREASE buildup was horrific. it seriously looked like they hadn't clean since the store opened.
There were like five employees there, and no one has the common sense to think, "hmm maybe we should sweep up these two donuts that are squashed on the floor or wipe some of the spills." In addition, it took about 7 minutes to get our donuts even though they were sitting in the glass container, where they could have easily grabbed the donut, put it in the box, and just give it to us. When we walked over to the cashier to see what was the hold up, the box of donuts were sitting on the counter and the employee had no idea. No one bothered to communicate that the donuts were done. Seriously, teenagers with purple green hair that run this place. Clean your store!!...
Read moreFirst of all I want to say I love Krispy Kreme donuts and coffee, and that this review is specific to the Charlottesville location. We go to Roanoke Krispy Kreme frequently and literally always have a positive experience.
However, we've come to the Charlottesville store occasionally when we're in town, and without exception, our experience has been terrible. The counter people are rude, lethargic, un-helpful, and seem perpetually annoyed. They have NEVER had the special seasonal donuts advertised. NEVER!!! The other day we were in at 1:00 p.m., and they were out of more than half of their selections. Basically only had glazed or kreme filled. All we had wanted was a vanilla iced OR a blueberry OR a chocolate cake glazed donut. Couldn't get a single one of those. We bought a bag of donut holes and left. We keep vowing to never go back, but when you're heading to visit your daughter, her husband, and their brand new baby, even a bag of donut holes is better than nothing from Krispy Kreme, I suppose.
Anyway, if you go to the Charlottesville Krispy Kreme, lower your expectations, don't expect friendly people or a good selection, and...
Read moreVisited this location (5th Street) for the first time since they opened. It was pouring rain outside so my husband and I went through the drive thru. Literally no line inside as we drove by the window and one person in the drive thru in front of us. We pull up to the speaker and the girl says hold on. Which is fine because we didn't know what we wanted anyway. We stated our order and we had to repeat it because she couldn't hear. (Ok maybe because of all the rain outside, no problem.) We repeat the order and drive to the pick up window. As the cashier was running the card I watched the other employees. None of which looked happy. But then one younger gentleman opened a box to fill with donuts. He had the opened box in one hand and looking at the screen with the order to fill, runs his gloved hand through his hair and then proceeds to touch the doughnuts that he is placing in the box. The only reason this establishment is getting a 2 star is because the cashier advised is she gave us a medium coffee instead of a small for no charge. I would also like to mention that the hot doughnuts sign was on and the doughnuts we...
