Al Carbón — Restaurant in Charlottesville

I had an online order this evening and I was pretty upset with the quality of service that I got within the restaurant. I got my order 30 minutes later than expected time I had order one of the premium side which they charge $.90 more when you order a bundle like La Familia.I was told that the premium side wasn’t available and if I could pick something else I ended up just getting a side of rice. My problem is that I had asked for one of my green sauces to be changed for a red sauce. I was told by the gentleman who helped me he would make the change for me. When the lady handed me the food, which was the same one who told me that the premium side wasn’t available. She very unpleasant and not helpful. She questioned me about the sauce three times and I told her that I was missing a red sauce. My problem is that. My order was late, my premium side wasn’t available, and I’m asking for a sauce I was missing . I ended up paying the dollar for the sauce. But if I would’ve remember when I was in the store that I had already paid $.90 fee for premium side that I didn’t get. I would’ve not paid for the sauce. UPDATE SEP 2025: They have changed management and they no longer make great food. Although the restaurant itself is bigger and nicer the food is bad. Stepped in for a sandwich " cemita sandwich" and requested some Chipotle in it. What i got was a nasty amount of Chipotle, the whole bread/ meat covered in the sauce with huge chunks. Told the waitress about it and she tried to explain what a Chipotle sauce is. Lady I have been eating Chipotle before you were even born, I know what a Chipotle sauce is!! I also know what it is to open a can and smear Chipotle like if there's no tomorrow. The sauce should marry the rest of the ingredients NOT OVER RUN THE WHOLE SHOW. You couldn't taste anything but the Chipotle. Won't be back!! If you want good food like before, go to the other location. Everything in this place is really good. From chicken, to ribs, from flautas to sandwiches, from salsas to yummy desserts. Staff is really friendly and you get your monies worth in goodies. Great location, Awesome...

Me and my daughter eat here often. Yet last night something was so wrong. Cashier was very polite. Chicken was so blackened I couldn’t eat it. Spoke with one of the staff Aldo after sending him a pic of the chicken. He decided to reimburse me just for the chicken. I was unaware of that until today. I called back spoke with Aldo stated he would give my name and number to the manger. He had no idea when that would be. That’s what he told me. I even agreed to send him pics of the sides which I did not eat. Later today my daughter text to say the full amount was pending on her debit card. Wow!!! So unprofessional. Management should have at least called me to apology for the inconvenience and awful chicken my daughter was given. They acting like they did me a favor by returning the money. That’s the least they could have done. They only gave me what I spent nothing more. I will not be returning. Look at the chicken...
