The appeal of Mexican food is cheap margaritas and free chips and salsa. I especially like this location because the bathrooms are downstairs. It's a great test to make sure you've not had too many drinks.
My last visit however did not go as well. I was unable to flag any server down for nearly 15 minutes. A few times I'd make eye contact with a server and they'd turn their heads, like, "not my table, not my problem."
They gave us 1 bowl of salsa for 4 people, which we ran out of immediately. We tried to ask for more, but it took our actual server 35 minutes to refill it.
When our server came to the table he only wanted our drink orders. We had all our menus at the end of the table and was ready to eat, but he wouldn't take them. He served 1 drink at a time at 10 to 15 minute intervals. By the time the last of us got a drink, 2 of us were done.
I like this location and perhaps it was just a bad day where all the wait staff didn't want to work. I'll give it another shot and if it's this bad again I'll drop the rating and...
Read moreFun place for family dinner. Great food, Great Prices, Impeccable team service.
The only thing that holds this place back is that they need to remodel it to modernize the place. It's old. Old chairs, old booths, old everything, and while it's nostalgic, it just looks awful. Not to mention the down the old stairs to the cave of hidden bathrooms in the bottom middle of this circular dining room that is honestly just kind of terrifying.
It's a loud, busy place, so dine early or later on if you want to avoid young children and infants screaming and crying because it's a family style place but still good for date night if you plan it right.
Plenty of parking. Handicap Accessible, and serves alcohol.
La Carreta is my go to spot because I have NEVER been disappointed with the staff or food. On point, consistent, fast, and affordable. If I had to vote for an "all around" best- They would be first every time.
If you're from out of town, be sure you eat here before you leave or you'll miss out on one of this areas best...
Read moreI decided to try the one in the mad heights shopping center w/ KFC & Papa Johns. I went to the register to pay my tab and some little kid/cashier made the comment "don't be afraid to leave a tip", I leave cash when I tip and will typically use my debit card to pay the tab otherwise and write '0' on the tip portion. I asked him to repeat what he had just said because I wanted to be sure of what I just heard and he laughed and said it again. I think he needs a lesson in etiquette and needs to wait tables for a while and when he gets stiffed because of his smart remarks, I think then he will understand that you don't make assumptions about customers. I then took my guess copy and wrote the tip (for the amount that I had left on the table), then went to the table and re-claimed the cash. It was 8.17.19 @ 3:18 p.m. when I first arrived, I left around 4:04 p.m., otherwise the person who actually served me (earned his tip) and I have no issues otherwise beyond the kid/cashier!
