Ok where do I begin. I was a bit confused with this restaurant. I'm not sure if it identifies as a Dominican with a Mexican infused or vice versa.... Mexican with a Dominican infused menu. From what I saw on the menu it was Mexican with a minimal Dominican infused theme. I saw tacos nachos and bowls which are all Mexican and a handful of sandwiches that use plantain instead of bread as Dominican theme along with a few drinks. Now let's get to this sandwich review. I ordered the pull pork sandwich and it lacked flavor. The pulled pork sandwich I'm used to have a heavy garlic taste along with some sort of seasoning that would be distinctive. My sandwich had nothing like that. Matter of fact it was served cold with a piece of cheese that wasn't even melted. Had it not been for the pickled onions I don't think this would have tasted like anything. Also a high amount of salt was used on the outside o the plantains this should have been used on the inside not the outside. Every time I took a bite I had a massive amount of salt in my hands. I really hope this restaurant thrives but when I paid a visit it was completely empty on a Saturday night. I guess to folks that don't know better will score this place higher then what it is. I believe there is room for improvement here. Start with warming the meat more and putting more seasoning on it versus just salt on top of the sandwich. It's going to be a while before I go back and hopefully they can shake the glitters off by then. Great service just lack luster food. In other words basic.

The restaurant has great vibes. The art and decorations on the wall and their black ceilings show great artistic taste. We went there when they happened to have no customers in the restaurant. But you still can tell how lovely the place it is to hang out with people, have food or get drinks. It’s chill, welcoming, and relaxing. The staff talked to us with passion and care, which we value a lot. We got the plantain sandwiches. Although it’s not something I personally like, the sandwiches are great and flavorful and I’d recommend it to anyone that likes plantain. I’d go back to try out their tacos and other food.

I was highly impressed with the food and service at this restaurant! I went in on a Friday night with a group of 8. We had cocktails, (highly recommend there mojito), the salsa flight, sweet plantains, Mexican street corn, all amazing! The El Tumbao sandwich was the sandwich I chose and it was out of this world....The young man who served us did an amazing job. So courteous and friendly! If you haven't checked this spot out yet put it on your to do list because it is wonderful!

This restaurant has a great vibe, staff is super friendly! I've been wanting to come for a few weeks but really haven't had much time for a dinner night out so I decided to do a quick pick up order instead because i decided I couldn't wait any longer. I got their Mexican street corn nachos, yucca fries and churros. But definitely plan to return to try more of their menu. It was an icky day full of freezing rain on and off so idk if it was just an off day but I was a little disappointed with two out of three of the items unfortunately. But let's start with The good- the nachos! They had lots of toppings. They were saucy, meaty( I got the shredded chicken) full of flavor. Id seen a lot of mixed reviews of their Mexican street corn so I honestly wasn't sure what to expect from these. But I honestly really enjoyed them. my order was done super quickly and was ready as sun as I arrived. even as take out the chips still held their integrity and were super crispy. I really enjoyed them.

I kept going back and forth between the loaded yucca and nachos(ultimately decided on getting the nachos )but I love yucca so I atleast wanted to still try them. All the reviews I've seen raved about the yucca but unfortunately my batch wasn't what I expected. most of them didn't feel or taste fully cooked in the center and they all had this really off putting "old "taste to it. Didn't seem the freshiest. I tried a bite of several to see if it was just a bad one but the sadly all had the same "old" taste to them. unfortunately I couldn't finish them. Which was huge bummer cause I was super excited for them. I'd give them another try though as based off the reviews I'd hoped I'd just gotten a bad batch. The outside did have a lovely crunch but little to no flavor at all.. Not even a little salt. Honestly the omg thing that saved the taste was the cilantro cream it came with that had a nice erbacious zing to it.

Next the The churros. Also another item I really wanted to love. I'm Puerto rican and I grew up eating churros and they remind me of my childhood and hold a special place in my heart. I will order them anytime I see them on a menu. These were actually the first item I tried. I love a good crispy outside of a churro but these were almost a little too crispy for me. These seemed to be a little over fried in my opinion. Parts of the outside you could see were overly brown My favorite churros are those that have the slightly crunchy exterior but till soft and fluffy centers. These centers had very little soft center though. The cinnamon sugar coating was super light , I could have used a lot more because you really couldn't taste it. And These also had odd underlying flavor. I could borderline taste the oil in the churros and there was also this off putting old taste to them again. I'm wondering if it was the fryer/oil since it was prevalent in both these items. There was only one customer sitting in the restaurant when I picked my food up and I they didn't appear to have tpo many take out orders so I'm really hoping this was just a rough night. Only sharing this for improvement as i do plan return because theres much more I...

From its humble beginnings as a food truck, Latin Quarter has quickly become a beloved culinary destination in Richmond. Founded by the talented Taveras brothers, Dionis and Adam, this family-run gem has captured the hearts and taste buds of the community with its innovative and vibrant Latin-inspired cuisine.

Latin Quarter is more than just a restaurant; it's a celebration of Dominican heritage and culinary creativity. The journey began with a vision to introduce unique Latin flavors through the ingenious use of plantains. Whether you’re a fan of traditional dishes like “Pernil” or seeking new culinary experiences, Latin Quarter offers something special for every palate.

One of the standout features of Latin Quarter is their incredible plantain sandwiches. These aren’t just sandwiches; they’re a delightful explosion of flavors and textures that showcase the versatility of plantains. Every bite tells a story of cultural roots and innovative culinary techniques.

But the delights don't stop there. The nachos at Latin Quarter are nothing short of extraordinary, layered with rich flavors and topped with fresh ingredients that elevate this classic dish to new heights. The quesadillas are another favorite, perfectly grilled and packed with delicious fillings that leave you craving more.

And let's not forget the drinks! The spicy margarita is a must-try, perfectly balancing heat and refreshing zest. It's the perfect complement to the bold and vibrant flavors of the food.

What truly sets Latin Quarter apart, however, is the warmth and hospitality of the staff. The team, inspired by the Taveras brothers’ passion, ensures that every guest feels welcomed and valued. Their dedication to delivering a memorable dining experience is evident in every interaction, making each visit a pleasure.

Latin Quarter has not only expanded from a food truck to a brick-and-mortar location but has also expanded the culinary horizons of Richmond. With its unique blend of traditional flavors and innovative twists, it continues to create exciting new memories for everyone who walks through its doors.

If you’re looking for a place that offers delicious food, great drinks, and a welcoming atmosphere, look no further than Latin Quarter. This is a dining experience you won’t...
