We stopped at Lauritas late last night. My expectations were not high as it was about an hour before closing. I was wrong!

We ordered a whole chicken with rice, beans, and tortillas.

The chicken was very flavorful and moist. The pieces were perfect sizes. The rice was fluffy and tasty and a wonderful compliment to the creamy black beans. The homemade corn tortillas were excellent! They have is 3 sauces, one green and two different red sauces. The green one was exceptional, it was so fresh and not spicy, I tried to slather it on everything. The red ones are for the spice lovers! The flavor of them was really great, but since my heat tolerance is fairly meek and mild, they weren't for me. (I'd love to add some to some crema to see how that tastes!)

The restaurant was clean and neat. The service was outstanding. The woman who helped us order, made wonderful suggestions and we loved every one of them. We even got a smile and a wave from the amazingly talented cooks in the back as we left. We will be back!

Btw- the whole chicken meal can easily feed 4, so you can eat here and have fresh, healthy food for less than you would spend at a fast food restaurant.

Was really excited to try this place based on the reviews. It's clean and spacious. I ordered the 1/2 chicken with rice and black beans. They offered tortillas on the side. The sides were ginormous, the 1/2 chicken with sides is probably enough for two people. The tortillas were fresh but could have used a pinch of salt, still good but not great. The chicken was moist and well seasoned. Something I couldn't quite identify in the seasoning and it had a slightly smoky flavor. I would absolutely order the chicken again. The rice was flavorful but had been left in the tray too long and was a little soft and mushy but still nice. The black beans were totally unseasoned. Literally just black beans warmed up, bland and disappointing. The red salsa had just a touch of heat but not much flavor. The green salsa was really good.

My son got a chicken quesadilla and fries. I only tried the fries and they were perfectly cooked, crispy outside and soft inside but desperately need some salt. I have to assume based on the reviews that this was a one off and it was just a bad day in the kitchen. I'll probably try it again but I didn't get the hidden gem...
