Fantastic food experience! On a recent Saturday, my close family and I celebrated my high school graduate @ Lidia's Ristorante for an early dinner @ the off hours, 3:00 until almost 5:00. First of all, I was certainly surprised to get almost a last minute scheduled dinner party on that Monday before (due to COVID-19 phasing). The service rep was very kind on the phone and assured me everything would be fine especially since most recently Lidia's was accommodating for small gatherings for graduation celebrations. On the day of my graduate's dinner, the staff was kind and pleasant. The owner (I assume) also went out of his way to help resolve a problem my mother was having with her graduation gift. Her gift was a little too heavy for the bag she had it in and the bag broke. As my mother was trying to pull the gift together, the owner assured her he would take care of it for her. He mentioned that he would gladly go across the way to the nearby grocery store and purchase a replacement gift bag - unbelievable service! Who does such kind acts nowadays. Lidia's does! Of course, the service continued to fulfill my expectations of being fabulous. The food was delicious, fresh, warm, and served on a timely basis considering we had a group. The servers were kind and become involved in very appropriate conversations. Indeed, all staff continued to work wearing their appropriate PPE, facemasks, for my group's safety. The restrooms were convenient, CLEAN, and well stocked of bathroom necessities. My family and I truly appreciate how Lidia's Ristorante made such tremendous efforts to make my graduate's celebration very special. Lidia's was PERFECT! We will continue to be loyal customers as we have in the past. Lidia's is a treasure of Italian restaurants in the Mechanicsville, Va area. We love them like FAMILY (that cooks and serves well). Thank you Lidia's for a...
Read moreWe got takeout from Lidia's last week and were extremely disappointed with our experience. We ordered a steak and cheese sub, the lobster ravioli, and a Caesar salad. We got home to realize the Caesar salad had not been included, but we had been charged for it. (The ravioli came with a small side salad, which we did receive, but we had also ordered an additional full size salad).
We immediately called the restaurant to let them know the salad had not been included. The first time we called, the phone was hung up on us. The second time we called, we had to speak to several people before supposedly resolving the situation. They first asked if we wanted to come back and pick up the salad. We didn't want to make a 30+ minute round trip for just a salad. We asked that they simply refund us the $9.95 for the salad we never received. They promised they would put the refund through and then never did.
The steak and cheese sandwich was a good size. The fries it came with where nothing special. The lobster ravioli tasted like it was faux crab and not actually real lobster. The portion size was a bit small, I think it only came with six raviolis. The bread roll it came with certainly came straight out of a big plastic bag of store bought rolls and I'm not sure why it was even included.
In total, we spent about $50 for a decent sandwich, sub par ravioli, and a salad we never got. Unfortunately, I do not believe we will be...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I stopped in here on a Sunday evening while returning home from a weekend trip. It was around the typical dinner time when we came across Lidias...it wasn't all that busy when we stopped; only about 4 other tables were occupied when we got there. The space isn't terribly large, but it's nice as it has a "cozy" vibe to it.
We were able to seat ourselves and our server was rather prompt in attending to us as a result of the lessened traffic. He was friendly and helpful and our food came out fairly quick.
We ordered some calamari to start, which was very good. It was fried just right with just enough seasoning to it and came with marinara sauce on the side.
For our main course, she ordered the marsala chicken with linguini and I got ziti with sausage. Each came with a side salad that came out before the entree...the salad was rather basic with just iceberg lettuce, a slice of tomato, a couple cucumber slices, red onion, and your choice dressing. The entrees were delicious and the portions were a generous size. We ended up needing a box for our leftovers and taking them home with us.
Everything was priced rather affordably as well. I don't think there was any dish over the $20 mark here. With all we ordered, including a glass of wine my girlfriend had, we were out the door for under $50 before tip.
I'd say this is a fairly affordable place to go for...
