UPDATE: Tried Zheng again via pickup. Eggroll had a horrible taste. It could be the oil it was cooked in, I don't know. The wonton soup was good. This time, I got the Double Cooked Pork. The description said it had cabbage, water chestnuts, peppers, zucchini and mushrooms. I ordered it without the zucchini and mushrooms. Both were included, anyway. And there were carrots in it. And it was roast pork, not double cooked pork, and the pork was painfully dry and overcooked. I'm officially done with Zheng and dropped my original 2 stars to a 1 star.
Just moved to the area and tried Zheng for the first time. Did Door Dash, which was more expensive, but I saw the reviews about delivery direct from the restaurant being painfully slow. Egg rolls had no meat (menu says chicken) and were just cabbage that was practically raw. Kung Pao Chicken had the perfect amount of spice, but it was VERY dry with almost no sauce, which is where so much of the flavor is. It also had zucchini in it (and a lot of it). This is my go-to dish at Chinese restaurants, and I have never had one with zucchini, and I don't like zucchini. It also had no water chestnuts, which is a normal part of the dish. I'm not writing Zheng off yet, but I'm not in a hurry to give it a...
Read moreRecently had lunch here with my wife. The experience was a little sub-par. I'll say that it looks to be more of a take out place. The inside seems old and a little dirty. The booths are ripped and there are boxes placed all over tables as well. The young man that waited on us was super nice. My wife ordered a chicken and broccoli and wanted to add cashews to it. He said that he could do that, but when the order came out it had water chestnuts. When she pointed that out to him he said that he was sorry and he went in the back and got a bowl of hard cashews and gave it to her. She said well they're kind of hard can I get them cooked in the sauce you know like mixed in and he said yeah just put them on top and make some around, from there we just didn't ask anymore because he wasn't getting it. I got the Kung Pao shrimp and a small bowl of wonton soup. The soup was cold when it came out. While we were in there though there was a steady stream of takeout, this is the first time I've eaten here. My wife has gotten food from here before for lunch at her work and said that it was pretty good, but maybe take out is much better than sitting in. So that's what I would suggest, it's not a place to go eat in at but maybe try...
Read moreThis used to be our go-to. In the last year, this place has gone bad and there's no recovery at this point. Tonight was the 3rd time we've had to wait well over an hour to get food delivery. I finally called after an hour and 5 mins to be told he would be here any minute. 25 mins later..... Then, the delivery person dropped the food at the door, in 30 F weather, and ran.... leaving the nearly $10 (30%) tip we put on the table by door. If we hadn't been on our way to the door because we have a motion detector in the driveway, the food would have been cold before we got to it. Guess they didn't want the tip. And after 6/yrs they should know we always tip well, and in cash. As we always have. Either way, between the incredibly Rude (new) woman who answered the phone the last time we called (and yes we order there enough I know their voices over the phone and who's new), and the service tonight, we're done. It's a shame. This used to be the best place in town. But hey, I got to keep my tip money, not that they deserved it after tonight. From now on I'll pick up at the Wok on...
