TLDR: food was decent, but nothing special. Nothing that would make me want to go back again. Staff/Location: Staff was friendly, but lacked knowledge on what contained pork or not. Rating doesn’t reflect that, but you’ll see I don’t mention the ribs or the Cajun corn because of the pork. Establishment was clean. Pulled chicken: Chicken moisture was just a bit better than dry. Honestly, pulled chicken is always a hit or miss at a BBQ spot. It’s usually all about the beef. That’s being said, it was a decent flavor and paired decently with the various sauces. Brisket: Decent brisket for what you would expect at a chain. Only criticism is that it wasn’t very tender - a lot more on the hard side. Mac N Cheese: was decent. Credit that it wasn’t too salty. That being said, it certainly lacked the cheese and felt more like a regular pasta. Baked beans: Good side. Really saucy if you’re into that. Cornbread: basic cornbread; hard to eat due to dryness Sauces: they were good to give a bunch of the sauces to try. I preferred the Memphis Belle and the Texas Twang.

Excellent service very fast for 11:45 lunch rush. I ordered the meat sampler with xl combo. Pulled chicken, pork, and turkey with Mac and cheese as my side. Total was $18. Each table has a sauce caddy with 6 types of bbq sauces from different regions along with a bottle of vinegar. I try each meat alone to get a base taste and each was juicy before adding any sauce. My preferred sauce was the bay bbq due to it's subtle flavor. The smoked turkey enhance d the sauces the most while I had the chicken mostly plain. At noon they broadcasted the nation athem and the whole resterant participated. Only down side was the corn bread was a little dry but I did not ask of butter at the time. My favor was the Mac and cheese. It tasted and looked baked. Not something you can find in chain style locations. Well worth the price.

Definitely a good place to stop for lunch. The food here is darn good. They have all the familiar BBQ joint meat options, and their sides are on point. The sauces, which can be found table side are pretty much all delicious. The theme and decor are set up to honor military and first responders. As a military member, I found this to be pleasant. They even stopped everything at noon to play the National Anthem. Again, bonus points from me. If that's all a bit too much for you, they have tables for outdoor dining as well. No military discount, but they do have a veteran's rewards program. The staff at this location were all very helpful and friendly. We really enjoyed dining here, and would definitely come back again.

So I had a bit of a unique situation with catering with Mission BBQ. We were quoted a total for our 160 guests in January, and we signed the contract and put down the deposit. Months went by, I finally got a final headcount of 145 and let Matt (our caterer) know we could adjust the number (was hoping to save a little money, we were skating by the skin of our teeth to pay it all off) He responds with my new invoice, and my stomach drops. For some reason, it says its over $2,000 more than the original quote for 15 people LESS. So I email him letting him know I think there was a mistake.

Well he calls me, lets me know that it was a mistake on his end, he only actually added our cocktail hour menu to our invoice originally… not our actual dinner. (Side note- this is exactly 3 weeks before my wedding) i start panicking, I call my fiancé, we’re both freaking out. In the end, Matt genuinely apologized, and did everything he possibly could to help us get some money off. I could tell he felt so bad, and I know it was 100% an accident.

Day of wedding - they were PHENOMENAL. The waiters were so sweet, one of them actually coming up to my husband and I saying they have never witnessed a more love filled wedding (and she loved my twilight theme in my ceremony lol) my guests are STILL talking about how incredible the food was. (ALSO- several people in our family went to a wedding a few months prior and they had Mission BBQ too, but it was a maryland location…. They said this location knocked it out of the PARK!) Matt also made it his mission (pun intended) to come to our wedding so we could meet him, and so that he could be sure nothing went wrong day of.

All in all, there were a few hiccups, but I would choose mission BBQ again and again. My guests were so happy, the customer service was amazing…. Very very...

I am writing in response to a frustrating situation I recently experienced while visiting the Gainesville Virginia Mission BBQ location. To provide a little background, this is not the first time I have experienced this issue therefore I thought it was critical to share my concerns. I called to place an order for a salmon dinner and informed the staff member that I would arrive in 5-10 minutes. Upon arrival, I was advised there was not any more salmon and I would have to make another selection. Considering I am a pescatarian this would be particularly difficult because I have not eaten meat in more than a decade. This is not the first time that I have experienced this situation while attempting to order from the restaurant. I think there needs to be a better system in place where employees are checking to ensure that the ordered items are available prior to customers packing up small children to gather a pick up order only to find out that the items ordered are no longer available. If you are not going to prepare the items ahead of time the purpose of call ahead is defeated! I did attempt to speak to the manager on duty however he was too busy to speak to me and I left my information requesting a call back. This is completely unacceptable and is not the quality of service that I expect when I frequent local...

I don't normally like BBQ but it was two against one (I wanted steak), so I gave it a try. The food here was great, but the sauces are out of this world! I wanted to take all the sauces home to dip everything in my house into them!!! I had a double meat platter, pulled chicken and the lean brisket. The lean brisket was tender and paired very well with the Texas style sauce, (it was like steak and A1, which was what I wanted) so good! The chicken was best with the sweeter spicier sauces, I can't remember the names. I wish I had taken pictures, even the spicy sauce up by the soda machine was awesome. The slaw was good, but the fries were just a little over cooked for my liking, not complaining though, I just like my fries really soft, and the ones that were soft were great. The cornbread is amazing! I would love the recipe and step by step instructions, please!! It is so crumbly and soft and has the best flavor! My husband and his brother really liked the mac and cheese and the pulled pork. We are heading down this way again for another concert, and we will definitely be here again to sample more meat and sauce combinations and to try the rest...
