My wife and I went into your location on Hull Street for our second visit on November 23rd at 5:50p. The store had one large table of young men and a few couples enjoying their meals.
We were asked what pizza type we wanted. My wife asked if any of the named pizzas were just a pepperoni pizza. A young man in a Virginia Tech pullover and a backward hat said, "Just do a Make Your Own." Abruptly.
Nor my wife or I could hear him over the noise of the kitchen and guests. My wife put her hand on the chairs in front of the pizza-making glass to lean forward to hear better and this young man said, "Don't touch the chairs or lean over! Just tell me what you want."
You can imagine both of our disbelief in hearing his abrupt and insulting response. We moved along and took it as the stress and pressure of the role and the employee's immaturity in handling simple customer requests.
It was my turn and I asked him to make the Bella and he announced to the team that he had no idea how to make that. Another gentleman stepped in to explain while he talked over him the entire time.
As he piled everything into the center of what can only be described as a Rhombus shaped pizza, I asked him if would spread everything out the edges and even it out. He placed his hand in the center of the pizza, pressed down and shook his hand back and forth. "Is that what you want?," he asked. Can you imagine what I was thinking and didn't say at that point?
More astonishingly to me were the poor use of masks by the MOD staff, the lack of gloves and the touching of hair and clothes and poorly worn masks when making a guest's pizza. We witnessed the entire crew not using gloves when changing Cambro pans on the make table.
Additionally, the overall cleanliness of your location is poor at best. You have a team that is not following or thinking proactively about cleaning procedures. The floor was filthy; the available tables had all been eaten at and were dirty. The staff expressed no interest in cleaning activities. I took napkins and handsanitizer to even make the booth we sat at a semi-clean space.
Further, your own team does not follow your refill cup policy. We watched multiple team members refill their existing cups. This store needs leadership, guidance, training, employee development, and someone who understands hygiene, personally and professionally.
The scruffy college kid "I just got outta bed look" should not be the aspirational uniform of MOD Pizza. Surely, an organization as large as yourself has some uniform and name tag standards that somebody has to live up to or be accountable for. This crew looked like they had just come back from a bad day at the river.
On a bright note. The one shining star in your location was a young man named Keith. I only know his name because I asked. None of your team members wear name tags. Keith was engaged, kind, curious and excited to cut our pizza to our liking. Keith's actions were the experience we were looking for and, frankly, expect in any dining experience. He has been with you for a year-and-a-half and loves what he does. I'm not sure that is true of anyone else in your employ.
I take the time to write this to help you understand what everyone at your location's experience was that day. No sign of a manager or owner or anyone who cared about a guest's experience. No attention to detail or oblong and lopsided pizzas. No cleaning protocols.
Businesses fail because of people, not economies. Customer's fail to return because of a bad experiences. Owner's fail to understand how important all of this is because they are focused in the wrong places.
When you get this fixed and are confident that you have it together, let us know. We will be happy to try again. We don't want a free pizza or a cookie or punch card. We want you to do it right 95% of the time. This visit...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis place is KILLER! Best pizza around, and trust me, I know my pizza š all their pizzas are 11" and it's one price (around $8, sorry I can't remember exactly,) and it INCLUDES ALL YOUR TOPPINGS!!! that means ALL the toppings you choose, as many as you want! Also it's BRICK OVEN style pizza, and you can see them taking and firing you pizza! Very cool, the kids LOVED that part. But the best part was, my Pizza came out absolutely Perfect. Not ONE single piece of burnt anywhere on it!! That can be pretty typical of the brick oven style pizzas, so I was SUPER HAPPY it had zero burnt spots š also, they have cinnamon sticks with a variety of dipping sauce choices, (like chocolate sauce, strawberry sauce, and some others,) and they had another type of dessert I can't remember now, then some cool chocolate coated chocolate cakes with white cream inside them, called the "No-Name Cake" (because it's 'so good no name is good enough for it). But all that stuff was SUPER yummy!!! And all at a great price, very customized, and FASSSSSSST! Fast is good. It's great, it's convenient! Also they have the typical fountain drink selection, but then they have this GREAT selection of cool Lemonades and Teas!! Try the Blackberry Lemonade š and I believe they were house made and possibly organic?? Also the staff were incredibly Friendly, helpful as I was a first time customer, very upbeat and seemed happy to be working there. Everything was super CLEAN too, which is always important. Anyway, this place is definitely going to be a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMod pizza is one of the best pizzerias here in Chesterfield, Va. It is one of the coolest places to eat around here because you can build your own personal pizza to your liking. As you walk in towards the front counter there's a large menu on the wall which lists the different kinds of pie crusts and toppings along with the prices. They also have a gluten free pizza crust for those who are vegan/vegetarian or allergic to gluten. They have names for their pizzas with the toppings but you can add or remove them to your liking.. They sometimes will offer a special topping for a limited time. Today it was roasted apple! I passed on that one because I'm originally from New York and prefer savory toppings. I'm sure that the roasted apple is delicious! They bake their pizzas in a very hot oven so it doesn't take long to bake. All orders are placed on a sheet of parchment paper with your name on it. They also have special glazes and sauces to top off your pizza like pesto and balsamic vinegar. They're really good! The drinks are typical fanfare (soda, juice and water). They are now serving micro brewed beer from tap! And they also offer cupcakes wrapped in aluminum foil too! The ambience here is nice and very laid back as it is a family friendly pizzeria and also a great place to hang out with your friends too! They also play all kinds of music so there's something for everyone. If you never been to Mod Pizza before make it a priority to do so, you won't be...
