Firehouse Subs Southshore Shops — Restaurant in Virginia

I appreciate this place. Look- in this day, you can’t get good service hardly anywhere. It’s like some places don’t even want your business. But tonight I was pleasantly surprised by Firehouse. … My order was wrong. Which was disappointing. I then tried to call the Shop, no one answered and the voicemail didn’t even say it was Firehouse. Unprofessional, and annoying, because typically the food is great and I didn’t want to have to stop coming here! So I commented on their FirehouseListens.com from the receipt. Aired my grievances. Within 15 minutes, the owner called me to express his apologies- and made it up to me with a free do over. Although my order was wrong, at least I now feel like they care enough about their customers to make it right. 5 stars for the food (check your orders before you leave) and 5 stars for the service. It wasn’t perfect, but that little bit of effort...

I don't know why everyone raves about food from this place...I wasn't impressed. Ordered a sub (one of their "signatures") a salad and 2 kids meals (grilled cheeses). My sub had 4 pieces of onion, 2 pieces of jalapenos, and 2 pieces of banana peppers, very stingey on the toppings. Bread wasn't fully baked either, was doughy. Wife's salad was full of lettuce stalks, a few huge pieces of green pepper and cucumber, barely any effort put into making it. Kids grilled cheeses were very dry. Also, the drinks, cookie, and rice crispy treat was not included...glad I could report that to GrubHub for a refund. I wouldn't eat here again, there are much better places to get subs...

I really love this place and the fact that it offers gluten-free sub bread. Very much appreciate that. I do wonder though what their rate of pay is because the workers seem less than thrilled to be there at times. I’m curious about the cleaning schedule of the soda machine since it very often seems to be covered with soda splatter. I asked and the person was somewhat vague. That being said, the sodas offered are really awesome since there’s a bunch of different flavors to choose from on the fancy touch screen. Overall, they do a fairly good job and we go here...
