My co-workers have ordered from this place before so I encouraged them to do it again since I didn't partake in the ordering the last time and the food looked really good. Why did I do that?!?!? Horrible decision. We ordered salad, paid upcharges of $5 for meat add-ons totaling $23. Ok, and bit pricey but so is everything right, so not really complaining there. When I got the food though, I received a styrofoam to-go container full of cucumbers with a few onion slices and a couple of shrimp. I, quickly, returned to the restaurant because I knew my order was wrong and the young lady at the register was very blunt and cold, verbalizing that the salad doesn't come with lettuce. HUH?!?! Doesn't come with lettuce? So you charged me for a cucumber and some onions because I paid the upcharged of $5 for the shrimp. Totally turned off, I requested some lettuce to go with my salad in addition to the other toppings that were left off. My co-worker's food, also, came in an unexpected way with no lettuce. She asked for balsamic dressing and this same young lady told her she had to order a different salad to get the balsamic. Now, let's remember...my co-workers ordered from here more than once before so we simply ordered the same food but got something completely different and a large side of attitudinal cashier. My biggest concern, even if we did misunderstand the menu which I don't believe we did, was that cashier's attitude. She's the front face of the restaurant on this day, interacting with all customers- new and return - and treating them like dirt. We asked her what happened to the egg that's supposed to be on the salad that I asked for. She said "I didn't charge you for the egg". I asked how much it was and she said an additional $3. I asked her could she comp us for our inconvenience and she said "no because we got it right, your salad doesn't come with lettuce". I gave her a reply that was equally as quick "but you know what you got wrong, your customer service. You think u just saved $3 but I saved much more because I'm never ordering from here again and my co-workers probably won't either". We were all together and we tend to order food together on our lunch break. Montclair Family....one suggestion, find you someone new for the register OR demand her to adjust her attitude. Her treatment of customers is just inappropriate (young girl, early 20s, black hair possibly dyed that color, about 5'3-5'4). I don't know her name but she's costing you dollars. Just a review from a dissatisfied customer.

Read moreWe stopped for breakfast one morning while heading south on 95 for a beach vacation. While looking for breakfast places online a lot of people mentioned how great it is. Overall, they weren’t wrong. We would definitely go back… just maybe when it’s not so busy (if that’s possible).
We had a short wait to be seated as it was busy inside. Maybe 10 minutes or so. They also have seating outside. It’s fairly noisy inside but that gives it more of a small local diner vibe.
The waitress took our order pretty quickly and brought our drinks. Then were waited. It took us about 35-40 minutes to get our food. So don’t stop here if you’re in a hurry (especially if it’s busy). She brought mine and my husband’s our first (I ordered a pancake breakfast combo and he got steak and eggs) but didn’t bring our daughter’s eggs Benedict. That took another 5 minutes at least before it came out.
I noticed as we waited to start eating until my daughter’s arrived that my bacon and home fries (fried potatoes) were not hot. In fact, not even warm. Which is frustrating. And not because of the wait. They can that way. My husband’s steak and eggs and home fries were hot though so I suspect it was a timing issue that mine was one before his so it just sat there.
When we were done eating it took awhile to get the check. Again, they were busy and we weren’t in a huge hurry, but I did have to stand up and flag down our waitress to pay. She was apologetic though.
As for the taste of the food, that’s why I still have it four stars despite the long wait and mine no longer being hot. It tasted really good! You can tell it’s all made right there and fresh. My eggs were re cooked perfectly (over easy) and the pancakes were great (I opted to get chocolate chips in mine): and I loved the home fries! I’m sure they would have been even better hot, haha. My husband also really enjoyed his steak and eggs. It was flavorful and cooked right and not some withered piece of meat you might get at some breakfast places. The eggs Benedict my daughter had were also good. Only minor issue there is the country ham was sliced VERY thick. Which to me throws off the whole ratio of bread to egg to meat.
So overall happy with breakfast. I understand why it’s so busy. Which is saying a lot with an iHop and its commercial draw right across the street....
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of enjoying breakfast at Montclair Family Restaurant in Dumfries, VA, and it was an outstanding experience from start to finish!
Atmosphere: The moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere by Peggy who took care of me The decor is charming and cozy, making it the perfect spot for a relaxing meal. The restaurant was clean and well-maintained, adding to the overall pleasant ambiance.
Food: The breakfast menu is extensive and offers something for everyone. I opted for the classic eggs benedict, and it did not disappoint. The eggs were perfectly poached, the hollandaise sauce was rich and creamy, and the English muffin was toasted to perfection. The side of home fries was crispy and seasoned just right. My dining companions enjoyed the fluffy pancakes and the hearty breakfast burrito, both of which were delicious and generously portioned.
Service: The service was exceptional. Our server, Peggy, was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. Despite the restaurant being busy, our food arrived promptly, and our coffee cups were never empty. The staff truly went above and beyond to ensure we had a great dining experience.
Value: The prices are very reasonable, especially considering the quality and portion sizes of the food. It's clear that Montclair Family Restaurant takes pride in offering great value to its customers.
