Normally I wouldn't post or even rate a place in this circumstance but tonight was something else. I went in and ordered the Chori Pollo. I asked for no beans and just rice, the same as everywhere else I go. As I step away to use the restroom the food comes out and I glance at my plate with only beans on it. Didn't worry about it too much and simply asked if I could have my side of rice that I originally asked for in a to go container because I wasn't going to eat it right then and there due to how long it took them to come by and ask how everything was. Upon receiving the tab I noticed I was charged extra for the rice and extra for it to be placed in a to go container. When I asked why there was an extra charge for something I had originally asked for when my meal came out there was no solid answer and I was still charged the extra amount, even though I should have gotten my meal with just rice. I hate having to go through this but with all of that being said I will also note the positives as well. The customer service was decent and everyone was easy going and friendly. It was well cleaned and well kept. The staff were friendly upon arrival and felt welcomed to their place of business. Other than that I give them 3 stars only because of the little incident that shouldn't have happened in me paying extra....
Read moreWas not really impressed with their food flavors. Ordered a shrimp dish with Chipotle sauce and when I got it, it has cheese sauce and 2 whole chipotles in it. The flavor and no heat was there and very disappointing. Also when sat down and explained to the server that one of us has a fresh onion allergy and he said no problem we don’t add any onions to a dish until we make it. But after have a drink and waiting for him to take our order. He then changes everything about not adding any onions and stating everything has onions in it from the start. Restaurants must take notice that there are people out there that do have food allergies. She didn’t go there to eat a hamburger or chicken tenders at a Mexican restaurant. We could have went to Cook-Out if she wanted that. We have only been able to find one Mexican restaurant down in Roanoke that actually asks if anyone has a food allergy, respects that too. This is the second time we have tried them since they have opened at their current location. So far...
Read moreMy wife suggested to stop here, based on the reviews, while we were passing through the area. Before we went in, they had a menu outside by the entrance. We were then given a menu inside with much higher prices. Our waitress just said it was a new menu and the owners hadn't changed it outside. We decided to order anyway since the food had good reviews. However, we were disappointed with the meat seasoning and the portion sizes. I ordered the parillada and my wife got the fajitas alegres. The meat that came with both plates tasted bland, and the pork that came with my plate had a hint of sweetness (cinnamon), that didn't go well with the dish. The food overall wasn't great and my rice and beans portion was the same size, maybe less, than my children's kids meals. Wouldn't recommend this place if you're looking for authentic...
