Opted for TexMex tonight so we decided to give this place a try. Cute, quaint restaurant with two wait staff. Pretty packed with people for such a small joint at 445pm on a Friday night. Being such a tiny place they had to put tables where they could, this meant some of the tables were undesirable and the poor waitress attempted to seat people at these tables but kept getting asked for another table. One table being right at the entrance to the restaurant, another the entrance of the restroom. š
The waitress that seated us was a hard worker. As people watchers, and there only being two wait staff, we studied the two of them as we sat at our table. She greeted, and seated, most every table (all but one). The waiter just swooped in after she seated everyone and took over most of the tables. Hence the reason for the 3 stars on service. The female was great but the male did the bare minimum. She smiled and was friendly. Again, he did only what he had to do. A bit of a forced smile, no real checking on tables - take the order, bring out the food, bring out the bill. Disappear into the back in between.
We ordered a "fresh guacamole" and a supreme chicken nachos. Portions appeared small, but satisfied our hunger. Don't expect the "fresh guacamole" to be made at your table the way many places do. Here fresh simply means made today.
Our nachos also looked a little lacking when they came out, but were enough to quell our hunger. The grilled chicken breast appeared to be an entire breast but being sliced as it was it left most of the chips without meat and a lot of meat on the chips with it. Shredded chicken would be a better way to go. Or even pulled. The portion of guac was tiny on the nachos and they were pretty stingy with the cheese. But, it came with beans, and pico.
All in all, a meal that filled us up. Nothing special and the prices were pretty average.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreI've been here before & the service has always been fine, but this time I was appalled. First of all, they had 1 server serving the whole dining room. It isn't big, but he had 6 tables when we arrived. He acted a bit irritated toward everyone. He took 10 minutes to bring our chips & salsa, which I let slide, but then it took over 40 minutes to receive our food. And, my order was not even correct. I ordered a mushroom quesadilla but when I bit into it, I quickly realized it was shrimp. I didn't want to make a big scene in front of everyone, so I left my table and approached him quietly. I said "I got a shrimp quesadilla but I ordered a mushroom one." He proceeded to argue with me and said I did order shrimp. He said he would take that one back and make the mushroom but I told him I didn't have time to wait for another (another 40 min??) and I would just eat it but I wanted him to be aware of the error. He continued to argue and said I ordered shrimp. Thank goodness I didn't have a shellfish allergy! So, I ate most of it & then the check arrived - he charged me $17 for the shrimp quesadilla! My husband then approached him and told him we shouldn't have been charged for the shrimp since it's not what we ordered. He said "Well that's not fair - I told her I would make her the mushroom." So, basically he preferred to throw the shrimp out, make the mushroom & then charge me for the mushroom? How does that make any financial sense? He eventually changed the bill but kept telling us it wasn't fair. So, this is a lesson as to how to lose customers FAST - first argue with them & tell them they are wrong, charge them for your mistake & then tell them they aren't being fair. All this over a $5 difference. Well, he lost out on a lot more than $5 today - he lost us as customers and word spreads fast about bad service. Was...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreEighth visit: had the fajitas with steak and shrimp!
Seventh visit: chicken wings. They were rather small. Probably not doing that again.
Sixth visit: salmon relleno
Fifth visit: had the Mahi. Kind of dry. Wasn't my favorite. Still love this place though.
Fourth visit: Boca Colorado, whole red snapper. This was an interesting experience. It's the whole fish, head, tail, bones and all. It was good but a bit of a chore to eat. Glad I tried it though.
Third visit: had the filete de Mero (grouper). It was cooked to perfection. As always the staff was very attentive on drinks and refills. They immediately bring out chips and salsa when you're seated.
Second visit: had the veracruz. It was delicious. Slightly smaller salmon than the rostizado, but plenty of food. Came with 3 large scallops and 3 jumbo shrimp.
First visit: This place was a complete surprise. The food is amazing. I had salmon rostizado and it was loaded with a variety of vegetables. These are gourmet plates at an...
